Warning: Contains spoilers for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
When Kurama was resurrected in Himawari, Boruto Fandom was completely caught off guard. Although she was an interesting side character, there was nothing in the story that suggested she would ultimately become one of the most powerful characters – or so the fandom thought. In fact, in Boruto: Naruto Next GenerationCreator Masashi Kishimoto drops a massive acknowledgment of Himawari’s potential as a host, which most readers missed.
For most of the series, Himawari Uzumaki was nothing more than Boruto’s pesky kid sister. Despite showing signs of amazing potential – such as the time she knocked out her father while trying to get to Boruto after he ripped the head off her doll – no one in Konoha had put her forward as having the potential to be a great shinobi. People always seem inclined to protect you and keep you away from danger. However, the series’ timeline has given the seventh Hokage’s younger child great power.

It surprised many fans when Jura, the leader of the Sentient God Trees, took an interest in Himawari. However, an even bigger shock came Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #9, when Kurama, the most powerful Tailed Beast, was resurrected inside her. From a plot perspective, it seemed puzzling that Himawari would gain such immense power, given her minimal involvement in the story up to this point. This development raised questions unless there was a previously overlooked hint or explanation that revealed why Himawari was chosen for this significant role.
As shown in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #10, Kurama states that although there is no precise explanation on how a Tailed Beast is reborn, his resurrection in Himawari was probably influenced by her distinct characteristics. These traits include the fact that Naruto undeniably passed on some of Kurama’s chakra to Himawari, a characteristic that Boruto also shares. More importantly, Kurama hinted that Himawari’s unique combination of Namikaze, Uzumaki, and Hyuga blood probably sets her apart from other residents of Konoha.

Originally sealed in Naruto, Kurama sacrifices himself in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation Chapter #55 to give Naruto the power he needs to defeat Isshiki Otsutsuki. At the time, there was much discussion in Boruto fandom about whether Kurama could come back to life, but few knew if it was possible or – if possible – it was even possible for him to be reborn as a human.
Kishimoto had previously hinted that there was something special about Himawari. In fact, Kurama’s comment about her unique bloodline is not a new concept in the story. Kishimoto has previously emphasized her distinctive DNA. In the incident where Himawai knocked Naruto out while they were chasing after Naruto, she activated her Byakugan and effectively used it to find Naruto. Byakugan is a dojutsu unique to the Hyuga clan – allowing a wielder to see through walls. Furthermore, knocking Naruto at such a young age, and without training, shows that she inherited the physical strength of her grandfather Minato Namikaze.
Kurama was most likely resurrected shortly after Naruto’s fight with Isshiki
Signs point to Kurama having been with Himawari for more than appearances suggest
in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #77, Kishimoto essentially reveals that Kurama has already been reborn and is now inside Himawari. In this chapter, Boruto is tasked with looking after Eida, who has just arrived in Konoha after separating from Kod. At one point, Aida’s younger brother, Daemon, who can sense others’ power levels, suddenly runs out of the store where Aida is shopping and scans the crowd of shoppers.
When he saw Himawari, whom he had never met before, Daemon jumped at her and demanded to know who she was. He pretends to hit her but is shocked when she shows no reaction. If she reacted, Daemon, who had the ability to copy an opponent’s reaction even if they were just thinking about it, could know her true power level. Boruto intervenes and restrains him, explaining that Himawari is not an enemy but rather his little sister.
Boruto clarifies that Himawari is not a shinobi and does not know how to fight. At the time, it was easy to explain the incident as Daemon sensing the potential power Kishimoto suggested Himawari always had. Additionally, her lack of reaction to his strike was attributed by fans to her inexperience in combat; Having never fought with anyone, she wouldn’t know how to react other than to fight, that’s what she did.
Himawari was always the perfect choice to host a reborn Kurama
Her bonding with Kurama gives the younger Uzumaki sibling much more to do in Two Blue Vortex
It was now clear that what Daemon was sensing was Kurama. He has already been reborn in Himawari. This is the “intensity” he notices. It’s also clear that being a tailed beast, Kurama probably noticed Daemon’s ability and overrode Himawari’s reaction to reinforce the fact that he had returned. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but there were several clues suggesting that the specific interaction between Daemon, Himawari, and Boruto hinted that Kurama was resurrected within her.
Taken together, these clues strongly suggest that Kurama was not absent from these Boruto Storyline for long
First, Kishimoto is not known for providing random details in his stories; Each piece of information usually serves a purpose or has a practical effect. Second, in a village filled with overpowered residents, Daemon somehow detected that Himawari’s power was so profound that he felt compelled to seek her out. Taken together, these clues strongly suggest that Kurama was not absent from these Boruto Storyline for long.
