What happened in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #14?

Boruto’s intense questions and conflicts elsewhere

Chapter #14 was a break from the action and delved into the interesting scenario of Boruto’s interrogation. Led by the Konohamaru, two elders and Ebisu, Boruto’s questioning began, with Eida spying on and informing Kawaki of what was said. Boruto reveals who and what the Shinjus are, and the threat they pose to the world. He also confirmed why they targeted certain individuals, such as Hidori Sarada. After telling them the true danger of Jura, Boruto wants to reveal his source and how he got such valuable information.

While Boruto drops the bomb that Naruto is still alive, Shikamaru ponders why he trusted Boruto so much, and it is due to Omnipotence erasing the truth of Boruto’s situation from his mind. While discussing how to help Boruto with Ino, Boruto’s refusal to further cooperate leads to him being beaten by Ebisu. Luckily, Shikamaru puts a stop to it and says it’s ineffective. He instead suggests Mitsuki use poison on Boruto to get him to tell the truth, and Mitsuki goes into the interrogation room.

However, this was a plot by Shikamaru to free Boruto by having Mitsuki attack him and secretly remove the jutsu-sealing handcuffs on him. The plan was a success, and Boruto teleports out of here with flying Raijin. The moment was short-lived, however, as Shikamaru was alerted to a call from the hidden sand, where Kankuro revealed that the village had been attacked, and Gaara and Shinki had been defeated. The chapter ends with Jura and the Shinjus performing a ritual and awakening a new Shinju known as Ryu, who originated from Shinki.

Boruto finally focuses on outside Konoha

The next arc will be placed in another location

Boruto Two Blue Vortex Kankuro in Chapter #14

While a lot happened in chapter #14, and there was an interesting development of village politics, it was great that the series finally went outside the village and showed that the threat of the Shinjus affects the whole world. The next arc is possibly going to center around the hidden sand, and potentially other villages as the Shinjus are going around looking for Boruto and potential new allies.

As unpredictable as the manga is right now, there are a few things that could happen. As shown by the official sneak peek, a segment of the chapter will focus on Boruto and Kawaki’s dialogue about what is happening. It applies to a potential team-up between the brothers, and Boruto potentially training Kawaki and teaching him all the techniques he would have learned in the future. This is a great and familiar development that is necessary to defeat Jura and his minions.

A flashback showing Gaara’s defeat and how Shinki came to be possessed by a tree is also a potential and very real path that the series can take, as it is necessary to show how everything happened. Furthermore, Kankuro asking for help from Konoha could lead to a team being sent to the village and assist them. The candidates for the mission are interesting, and there is a great opportunity for the selected ninjas to be developed as characters, since they would be the focal point of the arc.
