Toy Story 5 must avoid Pixar’s final trap after the last two Buzz and Woody films ended exactly the same way

Toy Story 5The final scene needs to shake things up, as the two most recent entries in the film franchise suggest that Pixar is running out of storytelling tricks for the series’ famous duo. Although each Toy Story film revolves around Buzz (Tim Allen) and Woody (Tom Hanks), each installment hasn’t balanced the characters’ roles evenly. This wasn’t a problem as it just allowed the two toys to shine in different ways. However, when Toy Story 5 is released, the next sequel needs to find a way to differentiate its ending from how Buzz and Woody’s arcs ended.

Since its inception in 1995, the Toy Story The franchise has resulted in many of Pixar’s most profitable films of all time, as well as the studio’s most beloved and highest-rated efforts. The heartwarming tales are incredibly character-driven, so Toy Story 5 will probably continue in this spirit. Buzz and Woody have long been at the center of the animated sagaas the rivalry-turned-friendship is one of the most appealing facets of the franchise. When they return Toy Story 5the film’s script will need to include a new take on the shared plot.

Toy Story 5 can’t end with an emotional goodbye after Toy Story 3 and 4 ended

Pixar’s Next Sequel Shouldn’t Continue to Rely on Heartbreaking Endings

2010 Toy Story 3 ended devastatinglywith Andy leaving Buzz, Woody, and all of his other childhood toys with Bonnie. It made sense plot-wise, since with Andy already grown up and going to college, it wouldn’t make sense for him to take his toys with him. Toy Story 4The ending was equally sad, as it marked Buzz and Woody’s separation after seeing their relationship grow over the decades. Both endings were effective, but doing something like this for the third time in a row wouldn’t have the same level of impact.

Instead of, it’s time to Toy Story 5 to try something else. From the success of the previous films, the success of the upcoming sequel is practically a guarantee at this point. Given Pixar’s struggles with original content in recent years, it would make sense if the studio continued to focus on sequels like Toy Story 5 and Incredibles 3. If yes, then Toy Story 6 or beyond is not necessarily an unlikely concept. Therefore, another attempt to “end” the franchise with an intensely emotional and moving moment would seem even more hypocritical, as the toys could easily return again.

Toy Story 1 and 2 prove that the new film can have an optimistic ending

The Toy Story movies didn’t always end on a sad note

Toy Story 3 and 4 have such sad conclusions that they were practically adopted as franchise norms, but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, the first two Toy Story the films ended on a fun note. The first installment teased a sequel by comedically revealing that Andy had received a puppy for Christmas and in 1999 Toy Story 2 came to an end with Wheezy’s stunning rendition of Randy Newman’s franchise anthem, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Both endings were fun, so Toy Story 5 shouldn’t feel obligated to add a third sad ending scene in a row.

Instead of mourning the apparent end of an entire series of films, Toy Story 5 needs to adopt the same tactics as the first two films and celebrate the film’s immediate events, themes, and messages. Andy’s departure and Buzz’s separation from Woody are, in all fairness, good reasons to adopt an emotional tone. However, the series is now largely devoid of sad events that can also remain nostalgically joyful. So the only options left are to retread the same narrative ground or take the franchise into territory that’s too sad for a family adventure.

Don’t worry, Toy Story 5 can make you cry in other ways

Pixar often incorporates sadder moments into Toy Story films

Toy Story doesn’t limit its emotional moments to just the end of a film. Characters often have experiences during which the audience would be forgiven for shedding tears. For example, Buzz’s realization that he’s actually a toy and not a Space Ranger is heartbreaking, and seeing his last bit of belief die when he can’t fly to the window of Sid’s house is almost unbearable. Likewise, J.the story of essie in Toy Story 2 how her previous owner abandoned her is equally depressinglargely due to the dark version of “When She Loved Me”.

Toy Story 3 even included an iconic false endingleading the audience to believe that all of Andy’s toys were about to be brutally incinerated. Fortunately, the movie still had 10 minutes left, which left enough time for the toys to be left in Bonnie’s care. So all these examples and more are solid evidence that Toy Story 5 It can still be an emotional rollercoaster but still end on a positive note.
