Tower of God is an expansive and engaging manhwa that got an excellent anime adaptation. The series’ first season featured an incredible art style, a cast of fun characters, and one of the most famous betrayals in anime. While the quality of the second season can’t compare to the first, it’s still a great show filled with interesting episodes. Baam attempts to climb the titular Tower while searching for Rachel, the girl who found and named him.
The first season serves as a prologue to the series, introducing the world and the characters that live in it. The second season begins after a gap of approximately five years. Baam now goes by Jue Viole Grace and becomes the FUG Hunter Candidate, a dangerous role forced upon him. Whether he’s an innocent kid new to the Tower or a hardened Hunter candidate, Baam’s story is unique, captivating and a great watch in Tower of God.

The one-horned ogre
Season 1, Episode 9
Tower of God it has light-hearted elements, but is still one of the darkest anime series. When Baam and his new allies want to climb the Tower, they must pass a series of tests. One of the tests pits them against a Ranker, Quant Blitz, and tasks them with taking a badge from him. It becomes incredibly complicated when Baam tries to fight Michelle Light’s true identity and Hoh takes her hostage. In a shocking twist, Hoh accidentally stabs Michelle, who is revealed to be Rachel, before taking his own life..
It’s a sad death because of how quickly everything happened. What started as a simple test turned into a moment of betrayal and confusion when Hoh realized he was set up. People died in Tower of God before that, but not by suicide. It is a worrying moment that receive Tower of God serious tone as well.

A thick and distant wall
Season 2, Episode 11
The second season of Tower of God sees Baam’s group and Khun’s group approaching the Battle of the Workshop. They are going there in an attempt to get stronger weapons and tools to climb the Tower. When the two are in Arlen’s Hand, the reunion is coming. As Khun waits for his allies Ran and Nozick inside, he realizes he has been tricked. He quickly overcomes his opponent and kills him in an instant.
It’s a great episode Tower of God why finally sees Baam and Khun close to reuniting. Khun is quite confident that his friend is alive and Baam couldn’t be happier to see him okay. It also shows that Baam is being heavily controlled by FUG. They’re putting him on a pedestal that he doesn’t care about, creating an interesting dynamic at the end of season two.

Beyond the sadness
Season 1, Episode 10
After Hoh stabbed Rachel in the back, Baam waited with her at the hospital. He then reports to his friends that she may never walk again, and the group organizes a small funeral for Hoh. When the test administrators say Rachel failed the test, Khun appeals the decision. However, only an Irregular can consult the administrator, so Baam reveals his status as an Irregular. It’s a turning point for the 25th Baam as he has now gained the attention of his friends and allies.
Baam’s status as an Irregular, or someone who came to the Tower from the outside, makes him the God that FUG wants him to be later in the series. Being Irregular means he doesn’t need to make contracts when entering floors, and he can also potentially kill King Jahad. While most of the other characters kept this fact in their back pocket, Baam doesn’t mind people knowing if it means he can save Rachel.

Mazino Magic
Season 2, Episode 7
Urek Mazino is one of the most mysterious characters in Tower of God and one of the strongest. When Baam and the rest of Team Sweet and Sour were tasked with retrieving the Flower of Zygaena, they found her and an absolute powerhouse as well. Urek told them that if they backed out of the test, he would spare their lives, but Baam couldn’t accept it. Knowing that if he failed, his friends would be executed, Baam faced Urek. As they flew towards each other, Miseng accidentally flew between them. Baam sacrifices himself to save her, earning Urek’s respect.
Mazino Magic is a great episode for several reasons. Introduces Urek Mazino to the story, the strongest character in the Tower at that time. It also shows how brave Baam is with his friends. He doesn’t care about Mazino’s magic if it means saving Miseng and potentially the rest of his friends.

Last chance
Season 2, Episode 1
Despite Tower of God season 2’s controversial art style starts with a bang. Introduces Ja Wangnan to the series, one of the protagonists of the second arc. It also introduces Jue Viole Grace, Baam’s FUG Slayer alter ego. Team Sweet and Sour comes together for the first time as they try to pass the test. Bam decides it would be easier to eliminate them all than to work with them, so he takes on Hon Akraptor, Kang Horyang, and Ja Wangnan all at the same time.
The first episode of the second season shows Baam’s new strength, as well as his cruelty. Baam in the first season was too soft, naive and innocent to want to hurt anyone. The five years since then have clearly taken their toll on him, turning him into the FUG Slayer that is Jue Viole Grace. If it weren’t for the time limit, he would have eliminated them all.

The strongest regular
Season 2, Episode 2
In an attempt to thin the herd, Mule Love, the test administrator on the 20th floor, has each participant show their power level. Yeon’s is great, Prince’s is a little better, and Baam’s is excellent. He blows everyone out of the water with a score above 100,000, while they can’t even reach 30,000. When he shows his power, his FUG robes are also on display, informing everyone that he is associated with the criminal syndicate.
It’s another great episode this exists as a strong opposition to Baam’s character in the first season. When he climbed the Tower in season one, Baam was friends with the grumpiest people. As Jue Viole Grace, he is subdued, reserved, and utterly lethal. “The Strongest Regular” makes sure everyone knows that Viole is in a league of her own, and he hopes it stays that way.

Ball
Season 1, Episode 1
The first episode of Tower of God introduced many new concepts at once. It was not confusing, however, as Baam’s entry into the Tower would be mysterious. The first episode of the series introduces Baam and Rachel and shows Baam entering the Tower from the outside. As Baam searches for Rachel, he encounters Headon, who allows him to move to the next floor if he can pass a test. Baam must burst a ball that is guarded by a terrifying White Steel Eel, but Yuri Zahad gives him the Dark March to help him.
The first episode of Tower of God captured Baam’s bravery perfectly. He lets the White Steel Eel eat him so he can stab him from the inside. He also calls out to the Black March for help and the weapon listens to him, also showing that he must be special.

The fate of the crown
Season 1, Episode 5
The Crown Game highlighted some of the best fights in Tower of God. It’s a game that the Test Administrators introduced as a means of allowing people to advance to the next floor immediately. The fifth episode of the first season features Anaak Jahad fighting fiercely for the Black March, and finally reveals Rachel to Baam. The climax of the episode occurs when the mysterious figure, later revealed to be Hwa Ryun, attacks Rachel. Baam sacrifices his position to protect Rachel.
His body activates its potential for Shinisu, cutting through Hwa Ryun’s mask and eye. It’s another great episode that also shows where Baam’s interests lie.. While his friends want to climb the Tower, he just wants to protect them. He wasn’t sure if the hooded figure was Rachel, but he was still willing to save her.
2
A new test
Season 2, Episode 12
Nothing is worse than seeing two people who want to be together separated by circumstances beyond their control. Baam and Khun are good friends who started climbing the Tower together at the beginning of Tower of God, but they haven’t seen each other since Rachel’s betrayal. Khun got the idea that Baam was still alive and joined his old team in an attempt to save him. Baam’s new team also has members from Khun’s team, creating several new and interesting dynamics.
Khun’s relationship with Viole’s team is excellent. He intervenes and immediately acts as leader, much to their chagrin. He’s what Team Sweet and Sour will need if they want to survive the Workshop Battle and hopefully bring Kang Horyang and Jue Viole Grace back into the fold.

Tower of God
Season 1, Episode 13
The first season of Tower of God ended in a completely unpredictable way. Baam spent the entire season protecting Rachel, only for her to push him to his death. While he survives the fall, his life changes forever. He meets Hwa Ryun at the bottom of a well, who tells him that if he wants to understand why Rachel did what she did, he will have to climb the Tower.
The final episode of the first season consolidated Tower of God as a series with potential. No one could have predicted the ending, and it created an incredibly intriguing story with more questions than answers. Rachel reports to everyone that Baam has tragically died, making her one of the most hated characters in the anime. Her betrayal is so simple that it is legendary. Maybe one day Baam will understand why she tried to kill him, but until then he’ll have to climb.
