Tom Holland Spider-Man
is receiving an animated series to narrate its first adventures, but Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man
will also receive a prequel comic book series from Marvel Comics. With the first issue releasing in December, the prequel series is scheduled to run for five issues in time for the animated series’ release on Disney+.
In the preview released for AIPT, Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man #1 begins with the wall-crawler in what appears to be his first supervillain fight. Check out the preview below:
While it’s hard to tell from the art released so far, the villain seen in the preview appears to be Hammerhead, the mobster with an indestructible steel-coated skull. As one of Spider-Man’s classic villains, Hammerhead would be a good choice for the first supervillain to fight this version of the wallcrawler.

Although Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has his own film trilogy with multiple appearances in the MCU, his full origin story has never been officially told. The animated series will show a alternate version of his origins where Norman Osborn mentors Peter Parker instead of Tony Stark. The comic book series promises to further build on the world of the series, introducing Peter’s supporting cast and promising the debut of some classic Spider-Man villains along the way. Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man #1 will be a must-read series for fans excited about the upcoming Disney+ series.
Writer Christos Gage talks about his approach to the new series, teasing at least one major hero who will appear throughout the series:
“I’ve had the privilege of writing many of Spider-Man’s adventures, both in the comics and in Insomniac’s video games, but one thing I’ve never had the chance to do is retell his early exploits. And the interesting part of this book is that it is a whole new look at these formative times. While this is definitely Peter Parker, the Spidey we know and love, he has a new cast of supporting characters – including Nico Minoru, who you may know from Runaways – and some surprising twists!”
The reveal that Nico Minoru will appear is incredibly exciting and will leave fans speculating about which heroes will appear throughout the five-issue series.

What other Marvel heroes will appear in the new comics?
Whether or not his first villain is Hammerhead, fans definitely won’t want to miss it Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man #1 when it releases next month. Featuring covers by Leonardo Romero, Natacha Bustos and In-Hyuk Leethe new series certainly won’t be let down by great artwork. A special animated variant cover rounds out the variants available for this debut edition, giving collectors plenty of options to browse their collections. The prequel to the graphic novel by Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man should provide an alternative view of how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man came to be.
