Now that Tom Holland's story Spider-Man 4 was officially announced, I believe that a Marvel Cinematic Universe theory will work out. The MCU's Spider-Man films just got their biggest entry in the form of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It's hard to keep up with the film, which brought together three generations of Spider-Men and grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide. However, Spider-Man is Marvel's most popular heroand Holland's version of the character is beloved by fans, so his next MCU film should post strong numbers, even if they are lower than No way home.
Although it has not yet been announced by Holland or Marvel, it is expected that Peter Parker once again join a team film in the form of 2026 Avengers: Judgment Day. Since the film features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Spider-Man will likely play a major role. Many thought the multiverse could be in play again for Spider-Man 4the story because of this and the fact that the film is the only one with an announced release between Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, I believe that the revealed story of Spider-Man 4 points in a different direction.
Spider-Man 4 will erase Peter Parker
Spider-Man: No Way Home already set up this story
There have been many rumors about the multiverse about Spider-Man 4which includes possible returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men and more. However, it seems Spider-Man 4the story of will connect to Spider-Man: No Way Home otherwise, and I'm excited to see it happen. Spider-Man 4The story was revealed by Amy Pascal, one of the main producers of live-action adaptations of Spider-Man. According to Pascal, Tom Holland's Spider-Man will have to deal with a dark story in his next solo film. Spider-Man 4 follows Peter choosing to be Spider-Man and leaving Peter Parker behind. Check out the full quote below:
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided to give up being Peter Parker and focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too difficult. So that’s what the film is about.”
Tom Holland's character does this because it's very difficult to be Peter Parker, which I find painful. This comes in connection with Spider-Man: No Way Homeis ending. I can see how Peter would come to this decision, as his last appearance in the MCU included Green Goblin killing Aunt May and Doctor Strange's world-saving spell making everyone forget who Peter Parker is. Spider-Man: No Way HomeThe ending was best explained by the script, which was released online. The final words of the script are: “Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is still alive.” Spider-Man 4 follows this decision.
Spider-Man 4's story leans more towards a street movie than a multiversal one
It fits the direction of the Spider-Man franchise
Based on how Spider-Man: No Way Home finished, it would make more sense for the next hero-focused film to be a street adventure rather than a multiversal one. However, the groundbreaking level of success of Tom Holland's third Spider-Man film must also be taken into consideration. Spider-Man: No Way Home almost broke the US$2 billion barrier – this would have happened with a launch in China – doing Avengers-level numbers. Because of this, Sony and Marvel may be tempted to include elements of the multiverse in Spider-Man 4which I find understandable.
However, Peter Parker abandoning his identity in Spider-Man 4 focusing solely on being Spider-Man is the kind of dark, intimate story that works perfectly for a street-level adventure. While I'd like to see more of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man, I think they should return in one or both of the upcoming Avengers multiverse films, unleashing the power of Tom Holland. Spider-Man 4 It will be a bold new chapter for Peter Parker's story in the MCU. After a major multiverse event, returning to a restrained and powerful street story would be refreshing.
Spider-Man 4 needs to be street-level after the original MCU trilogy
It's time to get back to basics with Spidey
I love what we've seen of Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU, but I'm ready for the franchise to undergo a big change. Spider-Man's MCU story so far has been dependent on its connection to Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.. Even after Tony Stark's death, his legacy and Stark Tech still played important roles in Holland's Spider-Man films. With the multiversal plot of the next two Avengers films set to have Holland and Downey go head-to-head again on the big screen, I'd rather see a street story that starts a new chapter for Peter in Spider-Man 4.

Spider-Man: No Way Home finished with the perfect setup for Spider-Man 4 to get back to basics with the character. Peter Parker lives alone in a small apartment, has no money and no access to Stark Tech. All of these elements could lead to a classic Spider-Man in the MCU, like many Marvel Comics stories. Following a new Spider-Man 4 casting report that includes Daredevil and symbiotes playing a role in the film, the MCU movie could still be a huge event, though it won't focus on the multiverse's final stakes, which is what I want from the Spider-Man 4.
Spider-Man 4
Spider-Man 4 is the first sequel in the MCU's Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tom Holland as the titular wall-crawler. After erasing his identity from the public's memory in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker continues his crime-fighting adventures without the help of Iron Man's technology or the support of his former allies.
