Today’s Connections Category Tips
NOVEMBER 6 #514
Having a fun mix of words can be a good or bad thing, as it can sometimes make them sound more like you and stop you from separating them correctly. However, today I found just challenging enough to trip me up a few times, but without losing it all. To ensure others have the same fun, non-frustrating experience, I’ve put together a group of tips to help you:
- A category is about options you can find on a specific device
- A category contains about four words that are about discovery
- A category deals with words that convey meaning to someone else
- A category is about things that share a common characteristic, although it may not seem so at first glance
If you still need help, there are more tips waiting below in the form of category names. They can be useful in helping you decide which words should go together and which shouldn’t.

I didn’t get this one first, but I found this one right after solving another one. I noticed RECORD and PAUSE and it immediately made me think of a remote control. PLAY and STOP were easy to spot after that, and it was quick to send. There weren’t really any words elsewhere in the puzzle that worried me, because none of them are often found on a television or DVR. That made this one feel really easy today, which was a nice break after yesterday.

This was the first category I got today, and I think it was probably because I saw NEW and NOVEL next to each other when the puzzle loaded for me. Was Too much coincidence to ignoreand I found ORIGINAL and DIFFERENT almost immediately. There also wasn’t much else I thought could happen here, which made me more confident. My trust was deeply lost in another Connections puzzles, but I was glad today wasn’t one of those days.

TO WRITE |
This is the only category I stumbled upon once and then felt a little silly about. Originally I had POEM instead of CORRESPOND in the word group, but I hadn’t actually seen that and thought they were just words that symbolized some kind of writing. If I had thought about it more, I probably would have realized that WRITE is not a type of writing, but a verb and I wouldn’t have made that mistake, but besides making me get a “Great” instead of a “Perfect!” It didn’t cause me much trouble.

These were just the remaining words, but it makes a lot of sense now that I’m looking at it. I never really considered many of these words before this category, except POEM, so I wasn’t too worried about this one. However, I like that “feet” means many different things in this context, and I thought it was fun. Overall, I was very happy with my result on this puzzle and I hope you had fun finishing it too.
