Today’s Connections Hints and Answers for November 5, 2024 (Puzzle #513)

Today’s puzzle felt like a mixed bag to me, with some categories seeming much more obvious and others This seemed a lot darker than I expected.. It was a strange thing to work through, but now I’m equipped to help him get through it without the feelings of frustration I had.

If you, like me, are feeling perplexed by some of these categories, there’s a good reason for that. Some of the categories appear to be a pop culture reference, but they are not, and some categories are exactly the opposite! This can make things seem much more difficult than they are, and a few tips can help you reduce that frustration and lift some of the fog.

• A category is about a group of things that share a similar texture
• A category is about a different group of things that share similar coverage
• One category deals with four types of creatures that appeared together in the same franchise
• A category consists of four words that come after the same word in a sentence – that word is something beyond the ordinary

Yellow Answers: Revealed and Explained

This category proved to be a little frustrating for me, even though it was the “easy” one. I had already gotten two other categories correct, only to find myself faced with 8 words. I knew the easy category had to be among them, which felt extremely frustrating. In the end, I knew what the category was, but I kept guessing the wrong combination of four words. CARPET was the main author of all this nonsensebut I also couldn’t figure out what was missing from the last category. Knowing this would have told me which word didn’t go with the others.

Green Answers: Revealed and Explained

This one was much easier and I was able to figure it out without much trouble. TURTLE stood out among the other words in the puzzle, although I I thought there might be a Mario themed category when I first read the words. However, I had already eliminated some of these potential words, so I saw TURTLE and then CLAM and things started to click. EGG was also pretty obvious, but I wasn’t too sure about NUT. Fortunately, this time I was right about the final word.

Blue Answers: Revealed and Explained

I believe this isn’t the first time there’s been a Shrek-themed category in Connections, and I got this one right away. Growing up when the movie came out, it was hard to go anywhere or exist without seeing it a hundred times. I, therefore, I saw OGRE and DONKEY and knew exactly what the puzzle was up toand I would be very disappointed if I were wrong. It’s also cool that both “couples” in the film appear here together.

Purple Answers: Revealed and Explained

Looking at the last 8 words, I couldn’t understand what was going on. I even at one point I joked to myself about a flying magic CARPETwhich now makes me quite sad and disappointed in myself. Overall, today’s puzzle was a whirlwind of emotions and a bit of a rollercoaster for me. Hopefully with these tips there was a little less whirlwind for you and you were able to enjoy the happy parts of this puzzle.
