ROOT |
SIFT |
If you need to dig into something, you probably DIG into it. ROOT can connect plants to the ground, but it can also mean digging, especially if you are trying to get to the bottom. SIFT can mean many things, but to an archaeologist existence the ability to sift through dirt is one of my favorite values and something I did quite a lot. Finally, combing something can mean using a hair comb, but it also has another meaning.

ROLL |
bolt |
It took me a second to realize this because I had kind of forgotten that the word PEAL existed. It’s a good word and should probably add a little more to my vocabulary than it already has. I was more aware of THUNDER and ROLL and grouped them together from the start before adding CLAP as another loud noise. It wasn’t until I finished this category that I realized that they were all there should have been words specifically about thunderbut it made sense as a loud noise category without that specification.

When I saw BRAID and TWIST, I thought they were probably a match and started looking for other options. I didn’t find anything about rope or any other “twisty” words that would lean more towards the verb category, so I looked at BUN and I thought it might be different hairstyles. It took me too long to add PONY to the mix, but that was because it was missing the crucial “tail” that would have tipped me off earlier. That being said, I’m still glad that I was able to solve this problem no matter what.

TREE |
Finally, I was leaning towards this category but wasn’t sure about it. I saw BOOK and TREE before and thought it might be something about things made or made of paper. which in the end turned out to be almost correctbut when I returned to these words at the end, it did not immediately make sense, since I introduced the last guess. Seeing it makes more sense now and I’m a little angry about how close I was. However, I can’t be angry that I solved it correctly and got the win.
