How Tim Allen’s New Series Shows Heart and Humor
The image of Gear change offers a glimpse into the tone and style of Allen’s latest project, which builds on his reputation for playing a stubborn, blue-collar everyman with a dry sense of humor. Known for his fatherly roles in comedies Home improvement and Last man standing, Allen’s character Matt seems poised to follow a familiar formulanavigating the ups and downs of family life with reluctant affection and childlike charm. This opening image hints at the close, comedic dynamic that will likely play out between Allen and Dennings as the father-daughter duo navigate reestablishing themselves as a family unit.
The sitcom appears to capture Allen’s comedy strengths while also allowing Dennings, also known for her wit and charm, to add her own unique flair that she similarly brought to the MCU as Darcy Lewis. With a supporting cast that brings a range of comedic and dramatic experiences Gear change could find a balance between the nostalgia of Allen’s older comedy and a new appeal to new audiences.
Our take on the initial gear shift image
Allen and Dennings show promise as comedic duo
The first look Gear change suggests that Allen is focusing on what he does best: portraying realistic, relatable characters in familiar stories. On-screen pairing with Dennings promises a new dynamic which combines Allen’s established comedic style with Dennings’ sharp, modern language. This mix of old-school charm and new talent could make Gear change a valuable addition to Allen’s portfolio, bringing humor and heart to ABC’s primetime lineup.
