Episode #1 Thousand Years of Bloody War Part 3 featured a brief look at the battle that took place in the final moments of Part 2’s ending, followed by a few more expansions on that battle. Senjumaru Shutara received a whole new fight scene with Uryu, showing off both of their skills long before Uryu ultimately defeated her. Yhwach regained all of his power and was able to use his Font, All Might, for the first time, completely undoing what Ichibe had done to him and beheading Ichibe in revenge. What happened in A Thousand Years of Blood War, Part 3, Episode #1?
Yhwach turns the tables on Squad Zero
Episode #1 began with a look at some of the fights seen in the finale of Part 2 and then continued with new content. While the other members of Yhwach’s Elite Guard seemed to be defeated, Uryū proved that he was not finished yet and continued to fight Senjumaru Shutara, even in her Bankai dimension. The fight further hinted at Uryū’s new abilities, and he was able to emerge victorious by switching places with Senjumaru using his Font power.
Yhwach was apparently also defeated by Ichibe, however he managed to hold out long enough for his true power to emerge: Almighty. Using this ability, Yhwach was able to undo what Ichibe had done to him and strike back, decapitating and dismembering Ichibe. With no one to stop him, Yhwach ascended to the Soul King’s Palace and finally saw the supreme being himself. Ichigo and his friends arrived too late to help Squad Zero, but Ichigo was able to speak Ichibe’s name and bring him back to life. Unable to fight, Ichibe entrusted the protection of the Soul King to Ichigo.
Bleach: A Thousand Years of Bloody War. Part 3, Episode No. 2. Kills the king
Things aren’t going well for the Soul King.
Episode #2 Thousand Years of Bloody War part 3 is entitled “KILL THE KING”. The king in question is without a doubt the Soul King, and Yhwach only came all this way to kill him, so the situation is looking pretty bleak. Since the Soul King is the cornerstone of the universe as it exists, it is impossible to say exactly what will happen if Yhwach succeeds in killing him. The universe could immediately begin to collapse, causing Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the World of the Living to collide together in an apocalyptic scenario.
Luckily, Ichigo and his friends have just arrived, so if they hurry, there is still a chance to intercept Yhwach before it’s too late. Ichigo’s training in Squad Zero takes him to the next level, so it’s possible that he could take on Yhwach, but can anything really compete with the Almighty Yhwach? Aside from the immediate situation in the Palace of the Soul King, the post-credits scene of episode #1 showed Head Captain Shunsui Kyoraku approaching a tied up Aizen, seemingly ready to make a deal with him.
Aizen at least has some interest in keeping the world going, so it seems like the situation could very well be so dire that letting Aizen go free is a better choice than keeping him locked up. Aizen is smart enough to know when it is in his best interest to work together, and most likely will not make concessions or try to join the Quincy (who have already proven him to be of no use to them). Bleach: A Thousand Years of Bloody War the turning point has already arrived and everything that happens next will be changed by what happens in the next episode.
