This Chilling New Star Wars Theory Reveals Why Rey Would Be the Wrong Leader of the New Jedi Order

Rey Skywalker he is rumored to have an ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ role in Star Wars next trilogy, which could mean a big change in what many thought would be the next step in its story. A new trilogy led by Simon Kinberg has been added to the list of Star Wars upcoming films, which has left a number of questions up in the air, including whether these films will be episodes 10-12. Whether they are or not, they will evidently see Rey take on a role similar to that of Obi-Wan Kenobi, probably in A New Hope.

The future of the next Rey Star Wars film, supposedly titled Star Wars: New Jedi Orderwas therefore questioned. This is particularly relevant because It previously looked like Rey would start her own Jedi Order. With this new trilogy, that seems much more uncertain. Some explanation will be needed Star Wars part to justify why the heir to the Skywalker surname and (apparently) the most prominent Jedi still alive has an Obi-Wan role rather than, say, a Yoda role, commanding the Jedi Order. This shocking theory could be the answer.

Adopting the name Skywalker may not have been enough

Rey’s lineage may still be creating problems for her

Rey stands before Palpatine's throne on Exegol in The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker remains controversial for a number of reasons, but two of the most prominent complaints are Palpatine’s resurrection being explained only by Poe Dameron saying “Somehow, Palpatine returned” and the fact that Rey adopted the surname Skywalker at the end of the film. While it’s unlikely that Rey chose the name specifically to make her life easier as she worked to establish a new Jedi Order, that would have been one of the effects of that choice. If Rey was trying to rebuild the Jedi, a connection to the Sith Emperor wouldn’t be ideal.

It’s possible that the Skywalker name wasn’t enough to protect her.

Granted, a similar argument could be made about her choosing the surname Skywalker – because Anakin Skywalker also helped nearly eradicate the Jedi – at this point in the story. Star Wars In the timeline, the name would undoubtedly be much more strongly associated with Luke Skywalker, who saved not only the Jedi but also the entire galaxy. It’s possible that the Skywalker name wasn’t enough to protect her. If news of Rey’s blood relationship with Palpatine got out, it could easily prevent her from successfully establishing an Order..

This could explain Rey’s supposed role in Obi-Wan’s upcoming trilogy, when so many expected her to establish and lead a new Jedi Order. If the galaxy discovered this connection to Palpatine, they may have rejected Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi, including, potentially, refusing to send her Force-sensitive children to train with her. This would be understandable at this point; the history of the Jedi is incredibly bloody at this point, so it would have already been a hard sell.

Rey may have learned from Leia’s legacy

A very similar story has happened before

It’s also possible that Rey chose not to lead the Jedi Order because she anticipated that if the truth about her blood connection to Palpatine was revealed, it could harm the future of the Jedi. Rey’s relationship with her former Jedi Master, Leia Organa, may explain precisely why she believes this. In the canonical book Star Wars: Bloodlinewritten by Claudia Gray, the truth about Leia Organa’s connection to Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is revealed, and it effectively ruins her political career and reputation within the New Republic, despite everything she did for the galaxy in the Rebellion.

If Rey and Leia discussed these consequences, it makes sense that Rey would have come to the conclusion that her blood relationship to Palpatine made her ineligible to lead the Jedi, for fear that such a discovery would ruin her Order and the Jedi’s reputation. In this case, Rey could step away from the leadership role and adopt a mentor role – similar to that of Obi-Wan – to protect the newfound Order. This would probably be preferable to some alternative explanations for why Rey isn’t leading the Jedi Order, as that would give her more agency.

This change to Rey’s character could be problematic

Star Wars risks making a terrible decision in this new trilogy

Unfortunately, all this means Star Wars is dangerously close to Simon Kinberg’s trilogy, insulting Daisy Ridley and Rey if this storyline isn’t handled correctly. On the one hand, if this trilogy has episodes 10-12 and Rey/Ridley is left out, that would be a huge disservice to both the character and the actor. If her connection to Palpatine is the reason she doesn’t become the new leader of the Jedi Order, as this theory suggests, that becomes even worse.

Rey’s blood relationship with Palpatine, preventing her from establishing a new Jedi Order, would encourage those who hold this view.

From the moment Rey referred to herself as Rey Skywalker at the end of The Rise of Skywalkersome fans argued that she was not a true Skywalker and was only a Palpatine. Rey’s blood relationship to Palpatine, preventing her from establishing a new Jedi Order, would encourage those who hold this view and, in turn, delegitimize the decision in The Rise of Skywalker to make Rey a Skywalker. At a time when the fan base is already so divided and tensions are high, This would be the wrong move for Star Wars to do.

After all, could other Jedi still be alive?

Some fan-favorite Jedi may appear in the new trilogy

Sincerely, Star Wars will need a solid explanation if Rey isn’t leading the new Jedi Order. In addition to Star Wars strongly hinting that this was coming, given the supposed title of Rey’s Star Wars In the film, the Force ghosts of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa appeared on Tatooine to smile at Rey when she adopted the Skywalker surname, clearly signaling their approval. She’s also the most obvious choice considering she was the main character in the most recent trilogy.

An alternative that might make (most) viewers happy would be to reveal that another previously established Jedi has appeared and will instead lead the Order with Rey in a supporting role. The exact timeline of the new trilogy hasn’t been revealed, so it’s difficult to say who could be alive – especially since it’s not even clear which of the Jedi who were active during the New Republic Era were still alive during the sequel trilogy. . Even so, if Star Wars If I went that route, Ahsoka Tano would be the best option to lead a new Jedi Order.

If Star Wars If I went that route, Ahsoka Tano would be the best option to lead a new Jedi Order.

In addition to being Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan, Ahsoka Tano is presumably the only remaining Jedi who was trained in the prequel trilogy’s Jedi Order, especially now that The Book of Boba Fett revealed Grogu’s choice to leave Luke’s Jedi Temple and return to Din Djarin. Ahsoka is also easily one of the Star Wars better characters, so this would probably be a popular choice. Ahsoka also more than deserved it due to her incredible arc throughout Star Wars and how far she’s come to become a true Jedi once again.

There are other possible Jedi as well, including Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren, who could also be alive at this point, and perhaps Rey would want to step aside for them. This would probably be one of the best explanations, because it would be less of a snub to Rey if someone more experienced (especially in the case of Ahsoka or even Ezra) was the one establishing and leading the new Order. For now, it is not yet clear how Rey Skywalker will fit into this new Star Wars trilogy, but hopefully his story will get the proper treatment.
