Bloody Ax Wound producer Hilarie Burton explains how her partner Jeffrey Dean Morgan Undead the story helped his new horror comedy come to life. Speaking exclusively to TelaRant about the next Bloody Ax Woundreleasing December 27th via RLJE Films and Shudder, Burton revealed how co-producer and star Morgan's TWD Connections came in handy when assembling a creative team capable of delivering the film's gory special effects:
Yes, our makeup department comes from Dead City, so they are part of The Walking Dead family. And that was really good, because we knew, as producers, that we had the best of the best working with us, and they were doing it because they believed in the script. They believed in Matthew John Lawrence, and they believed in this story, and honestly, just from a production standpoint, we had to get the budget for this before anything, like before the actors' salaries, before the music, before the post- production. Making sure the department got what it needed was the most important part of this.
