Games Workshop has released some epics war hammer miniatures this year, but fans chose these miniatures as the best of the best this year. Every year Games Workshop expands its two exclusive franchises War Hammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar with new thumbnails and new stories. Some of these miniatures are entirely new units, while others are updates to classic characters or units with new sculpts and builds. Although these miniatures are intended for gaming use, many fans enjoy building and painting them for display and hobby purposes.
As part of the year-end celebrations, Games Workshop carried out a survey to determine which were the best Warhammer miniatures of the year. This year, Games Workshop divided the voting into three categories, focused on War Hammer 40,000, Warhammer: Age of Sigmarand everything else. This year's victory War Hammer 40,000 miniatures were Night Lords Nemesis Claw, while fans voted Ushoran as the best Age of Sigmar miniature. The epic Tomb King/Liche Priest in Necrolith Bone Dragon from Warhammer: The Old World won the final miniatures category.
What were the main Warhammer miniatures of the year?
Games Workshop had a strong 2024, with tons of cool Warhammer miniatures
The Night Lords Nemesis Claw unit consists of eight fearsome and grotesque Chaos Space Marines from the Night Lords chapter. These miniatures were originally made for Warhammer 40K: Kill Team, but can also be used in traditional War Hammer 40K games. Another top War Hammer 40K Miniatures include the Tentatively Prepared diorama showing two Ratlings preparing a meal on the battlefield, as well as the Companions of the Inner Circle and Asmodai, Master of the Dark Angels' Repentance.
Regarding the fantasy theme Warhammer: Age of Sigmar game, Ushoran is a Mortarch from the macabre Flesh-Eater Courts that received a line-wide update this year. Another top Age of Sigmar miniatures include the rat daemon Vizzik Skour, the Chaos warrior Abraxia, and the Chaos Sorcerer Lord. The only representative of the Order's forces was Grombrindal, the classic White Dwarf who gained a new model this year in celebration of the 500 editions of White Dwarf magazine.
Warhammer: The Old World received a lot of love in the "other miniatures" category, with the Tomb King in Necrolith Bone Dragon miniature coming in first place and Lady Élisse Duchaard coming in second place. Warhammer: The Old World brought back the classic war hammer costume defined at the beginning of 2024, with Games Workshop re-releases dozens of classic miniatures along with a handful of new miniatures. Necromunda and the Horus Heresy the games also received votes, with the Malstrain Alpha mini representing the former and the Thousand Sons Librarian Consul and Alpha Legion Consul Saboteur representing the latter.
Our take: 2024 was a good year for Warhammer fans
Even more great miniatures are expected in 2025
Among a ton of fantastic war hammer miniatures, the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2, and news that Amazon Studios was moving forward with a War Hammer 40K television series, it was a great year for war hammer fans. Games Workshop has spread a lot of love between its main and secondary games this year, with both War Hammer 40K and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar getting great new thumbnails.
More fun is on the way in 2025, including Aeldari updates, some new Gloomspite Gitz models, and a new set of Death Korps of Krieg models, all set to launch soon.
