There’s a perfect way to reintroduce Viola Davis’ Molly into Jesse Stone 10

Jesse Stone 10 has an easy way to reintroduce Viola Davis’ Molly into the series. Davis played Jesse’s deputy and friend Molly Crane in the first four Jesse Stone films, coming out after 2007 Radical change. Molly was a great role for Davis, but her career was starting to seriously take off during this period thanks to roles in Doubt and Disturbance. Since then, she has become one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation, leading everything from Fences to The Woman King.

Node Jesse Stone films, Molly was replaced by Kathy Baker’s Rosewhich would come out after a special appearance in the eighth edition Benefit of the doubt. Tom Selleck’s busy schedule has prevented him from making more sequels in recent years, but Blue Blood’ end means Jesse Stone 10 it can finally happen. Assuming it does – and there’s a good chance it does – longtime viewers will want familiar faces like William Sadler (Gino Fish) and Kohl Sudduth (Luther “Suitcase” Simpson) to return; a cameo from Viola Davis’ Molly wouldn’t hurt either.

Sea Change confirmed that Molly has moved to Los Angeles

It appears that Davis leaving was not the original plan, as the film before his departure, Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise, does nothing to configure it. Instead of, Rose is featured in Radical change as Molly’s replacement, while Davis makes a cameo during a drunken phone call with Jesse. This scene established that Molly and her husband left grim Paradise, Massachusetts, and moved to Los Angeles, where Jesse worked as a homicide detective. Perhaps Jesse Stone 10 could involve Selleck’s protagonist being contacted by Molly about an LAPD cold case he can help.

… Viola Davis’ Molly could have become a captain or commander of the LAPD, and knowing Jesse’s history with the city, she could have called him to consult on a cold case.

In the years since her big move, Molly could have become captain or commander and, knowing Jesse’s history with the town, could have called him in to consult with him on a case. Of course, This would limit Davis to a few office calls, but these are also scenes that could be shot quickly while also offering devotees an update on Molly since she left Paradise. Plus, given how busy Viola Davis’ schedule is at the best of times, it’s unlikely she’d be willing to commit to more than a cameo appearance.

Why Molly left the Jesse Stone series

THE Jesse Stone The franchise found Davis at a turning point in her career, where she was transitioning from a reliable actress to a lauded leading lady in her own right. As good as she was on the series, the role of Molly Crane didn’t offer her much dramatic meat to work with. Davis obviously left Jesse Stone for career reasons, but within the series itself, Radical change revealed that Molly moved to Los Angeles to start a family and is pregnant during her hookup with Jesse.

Little has been revealed about Molly since then, so Jesse Stone 10 would be a great time for a status update. In all likelihood, a Davis cameo won’t happen, as the star is in a very different place in his career as opposed to his last appearance in 2007. Still, Davis made two brief, uncredited appearances during the 1st season of Peacemaker like Amanda Waller, so she power be willing to return as Molly under the right circumstances.
