There is so much equipment to loot or buy Dragon Age: The Veil Guard in the form of armor, weapons, and accessories with unlockable special abilities that can be accessed as Rook trades the Caretaker for upgrades. Equipment in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard can be found or purchased, but not created. However, once Rook recruits Bellara, and she repairs the Eluvian in the Lighthouse’s lower level, granting access to the Crossroads, Rook can find the Caretaker, who can help equip them for battle against enemy factions and destroyed gods.
Equipment upgrades in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard increase an item’s stats and unlock special additional abilities. This is true not only for Rook’s equipment, but also for his companions’ items. Gear can also be enchanted to apply additional custom gear effects that should suit any play style. To make these updates, Rook will need to visit – and upgrade – the Janitor’s Workshop.
How to update equipment
Visit the janitor in the workshop
In the Lighthouse, outside the library, Rook can find the Workshop below the giant wolf statue. The Caretaker will appear here when called and can help Rook upgrade his team’s equipment. In general, Rook can upgrade each item in his inventory once per Workshop levelas long as they have enough materials to do so.
Players can select items through the upgrade menu in the workshop. They can be sorted by what Rook and each companion are currently wearing or by what each character has in their inventory by category. They can review what the upgrade will do and then, provided they have all the appropriate materials to replace it, select Level up.
Gather materials
Equipment upgrades in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard cost resources that Rook can gather while exploring. These resources can be common and easy to find or loot, such as Heartwood, Imperial Weave, Flawless Crystals and Oreor rarer, often discovered in places touched by Fade magic. Each piece of equipment costs different materials to upgrade, so players will need to check the menu in the Workshop to make sure they have what they need to complete the upgrade. Additionally, higher tier upgrades will cost rarer or higher materials.
Players can collect or loot resources or sometimes buy them from merchants. Farming a lot of resources is generally a good idea because faction traders also require this for store upgrades.
A way to gather lots of materials and gold quickly in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard is to have Rook roll or Fade Step through crates, barrels, vases, and other breakable items they find.
Find duplicate items
For gear without the Unique rarity distinction, players can often find duplicates being sold by Merchants or in lootable chests and backpacks. Each duplicate item found acts as an update and increases the equipment’s rarity level by one.
How to upgrade the workshop
Increase janitor power
To unlock the ability to upgrade equipment to higher levels in Dragon Age: The Veil GuardRook will also need to upgrade the Workshop. This can be done by increasing the Caretaker’s power. The Caretaker’s power is linked to collectibles found in Thedas called Mementos. There is often some faction or regional lore via codex entry associated with each of these items, and they can be purchased from merchants, as well as discovered and looted during exploration.
Once Rook collects enough memories, a pop-up will appear saying that the janitor’s power can be upgraded. Upon returning to the Lighthouse, Rook will need to visit the Workshop and on the right side of the Menu select Classification. They can then upgrade their equipment and the equipment of their companions to higher levels.
Exchange souvenirs to update the Workshop too unlocks the ability to apply enchantments to items. There are a few basic Enchantments to choose from at the start, but with each rank up to the Workshop, more Enchantments can be applied. To access them, players can select Enchant in the Workshop menu.
Once Rook completes the statue puzzle and unlocks the secret Library passage in the Lighthouse, they will be able to access the balcony. Here, they will have the option to repair the Astrolabe, which also increases the Caretaker’s power. This grants a Permanent discount on Workshop upgrades for the remainder Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
