The Upcoming Phineas and Ferb Reboot Needs to Address a Big Problem with the Original Cartoon

Recently, there has been an explosion in the number of old children’s programs being revived for a younger audience, the most recent being Phineas and Ferb. The new season of Phineas and Ferb is set to premiere in 2025, with most of the original voice cast set to reprise their roles from the show’s first airing. Although Phineas and Ferb worked well because of the show’s rigid episode structure, there’s something that needs to change in the next reboot. That change needs to be the role Candace plays in the series.

Candace was a popular Phineas and Ferb character when the show began in 2007. However, her role has always revolved around the male characters in her life. His main goal has always been to arrest his brothers for their antics to make dangerous inventions. When she wasn’t obsessing over her brothers, she was obsessing over her Jeremy, swooning over him at any opportunity given to her. While it would be nice to see some of the same traits from Candace’s character, the Phineas and Ferb revival should not make the men in your life your entire personality.

Candace’s goal in Phineas and Ferb was always to trap her brothers

She wanted her mother to find out about her dangerous projects

Candace and Phineas in Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together, Phineas and Ferb Episode

It’s no secret that Candace’s main goal in Phineas and Ferb was to get her mother to discover the dangerous contraptions her brothers had been making, hoping to get them into trouble. This recurring storyline led to the fan-favorite song “Busted.”sung by Candace and Vanessa, being added to the series. The song was truly iconic in the show’s first season, but that means Candace will need a new, even more iconic song in the upcoming season. Phineas and Ferb revival. The only way she can get a better song is to move away from the crushing plot.

In the 45th episode of Season 1, titled “Phineas and Ferb Get Caught!”, Candace dreams of what it would be like if her brothers were caught. In the dream sequence, although Candace’s mother apologizes for never believing in her, Phineas and Ferb are sent to a strict military school away from their family. Candace hated this outcome and it made her even closer to her brothers when she woke up. This means that It wouldn’t make sense for Candace to keep trying to trap her brothers for she knows she will hate what will happen to them.

The Phineas and Ferb reboot needs to give Candace some better stories

She needs a bigger story away from the male characters in the series

The long awaited Phineas and Ferb the reboot needs to give Candace better stories. Although she was sometimes involved in her brothers’ work, Candace was usually at odds with them. Candace was also regularly in love with Jeremytrying to do whatever it took to make him like her. These are characteristics that need to be toned down in the new series, especially for a modern audience. They did a lot of the show back in the original’s time, but it doesn’t make sense to reboot a show in the modern era unless there are some differences.

The meCarly restart is an example of this. Although it ended after the revival’s third season, it was still able to run for three years because it catered to an older audience than the original show. Ultimately, rebooting the Phineas and Ferb needs to work hard and give Candace better stories than making her a typical teenager who finds her brothers annoying and obsessed with boys. A show like this has a lot of options to incorporate her deeper into the plot and give her a more meaningful story.

Phineas and Ferb follows the adventures of half-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher as they embark on various creative and often unrealistic projects during their summer vacation, while their sister Candace tries to reveal their adventures to their mother. At the same time, the family’s pet platypus, Perry, leads a double life as a secret agent fighting the evil scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
