The series timeline tends to loop back on itself, with much of the plot centered on the constant recurrence, over multiple millennia, of its heroes and villains. It’s no longer a surprise to see someone like Ganon or Vaati in every subsequent one Seldom Play as it is to see Impa, Link or Zelda yourself.
[Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the final boss of Echoes of Wisdom.]
even so, The recurring villain in Seldom Stories are relatively few. By all accounts, Echoes of wisdom Has an original final boss, unused in any other Seldom Game. However, look a little deeper, and his villain has some serious similarities to another one-hit wonder Seldom Boss. These connections are never made explicitly, but they are worth exploring to understand how Echoes of wisdom Connect with the wider story.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom’s Null sounds a lot like the death of Skyward Sword
How Echoes of Wisdom could be connected to Skyward Sword
Echoes of wisdoms final boss, Null, shares a lot in common with Skyward swords Death. Per Echoes of wisdoms lore, Null is an ancient being that predates all other creation, existing, as its name implies, in absolute nothingness before any of the events on the Seldom Timeline. Nal was quite content to remain in a peaceful sleep, until the three golden goddesses Nayru, Din, and Pharore, and led the universe as it is in each Seldom Play to date.

The sudden burst of light and clamor disturbed Nal’s sleep, and It began to consume everything that the goddesses had createdHoping to return the universe to a state of complete nothingness. The gods, of course, did not stand for it, and tried to make it zero. Seldom Fans probably know the rest: the Goddesses created the Triforce and the Tree Wheel, which they used to imprison Zero. Shortly before the start of Echoes of wisdomHowever, Null begins to break out of this prison, and consume the universe once again, causing rifts to open and swallow places, things, and people (like Link) whole.
This is strikingly similar to Demise’s backstorysuggesting a connection to Skyward sword. Just as Null predates the rest of the universe, Demis is said to have conquered time, and perhaps to exist outside of it. His story begins a bit later in the timeline, though, after the Golden Goddesses have sealed Zero away and left the universe. They gave the Triforce to the goddess Hylia, whom they charged with protecting their creation.
But Demis was jealous of Hylia’s power, and tried to steal the Triforce for himself along with a monster army. With help from five different tribes, Hylia defeated Demis and Sealed him too, with the power of the Triforce. Death is eventually resurrected by Ghirahim, a manifestation of his sword, and subsequently defeated by Link.
Their lives and deaths sound similar on the surface, which is enough to suggest that Demis is a manifestation of Zero, sent by the primordial being to claim the Triforce’s power so it can break free and return the universe to nothing again. But There may be an even deeper connection Seldom Learn between Null, Demise and all the other majors Seldom Villains. In order to understand how truly connected the series of antagonists is, it is necessary to take a closer look at the history of demons.
Nal may be the source of all demons in the Zelda series
Death, Ganon, and more
Two of the main recurring Seldom Antagonists – Ganon and Demis – come from a race of gray-skinned, red-haired demons. Death is generally referred to as the creator of all demons, and Ganon as their king. This means that Demise also created Ganon. In his final words, Demis promises Link that his battle is not over; His hatred will live on, and eventually manifest as another powerful demon, who will make an effort to conquer the world and seize the Triforce in his own right. This is generally understood to be Ganonwho appears as the most commonly recurring antagonist in later Seldom Games.

So, if Demis is a manifestation of Null, and Ganon is a manifestation of Demise, that means Zero is ultimately responsible for the creation of both main antagonists. That means that Null is effectively (if indirectly) responsible for the events of each Seldom Play with Ganon or Demis.
This, however, is surprisingly out of character for NullWhose only goal was to bring the world to a standstill. This is a goal it can only achieve through consumption and destruction. However, in order to achieve this goal, Null must engage in increasingly successful acts of creation. Maybe that’s why it seems so constant, because it goes against their nature to create these demons.
This has led to some speculation about Where Echoes of wisdom is determined on the Seldom Timeline. Some put it earlier Skyward swordThat would make it the earliest-set game in the series. This makes sense, as Null appears to be an older and more powerful version of Demise, not to mention the potential creator. However, it could just as easily be set much later in the continuity, along the Fallen Hero branch of the timeline. In this branch, Link fails to defeat Ganon during Ocarina of TimeAnd the demon king is able to take over the world.
In the wake of Ganon’s rise to power, it all becomes too much The seal that keeps Nal imprisoned would be weakened, and it could break out and start wreaking havoc. across the realm. This kind of timeline ambiguity is quite common lately Seldom releases, however, so the final verdict on when the game is set is open to interpretation.
Of course, none of this is explicitly stated in-game; This is just a theory based on some frankly suspicious similarities. The Seldom The series occasionally recycles plot points, so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if this was nothing more than a coincidence. Even so, it makes for a compelling theory that ties The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom In with the rest of the franchise.
