Warning: this article contains spoilers Transformers One and the Wild RobotIn a year full of successful animated films The Wild Robot was next to Transformers One as two very different but incredible films that manage to surpass many of 2024’s other animated projects. Both films are great in many ways, from The Wild Robotexcellent cast for Transformers Onememorable quotes, but each of them has a particular scene that will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest moments in the history of animated cinema, with Brightbill leaving Roz to migrate to The Wild Robotand the dual rise of Optimus Prime and Megatron in Transformers One.
These scenes are excellent examples of the strengths of each of these projects. Transformers OneThe final scene of presents the final transformation of the main characters into their definitive forms, and The Wild RobotThe farewell scene cements the relationship between Roz and Brightbill as mother and son, even more than The Wild Robotis ending. However, One aspect that may go unnoticed is the music which is essential to making these scenes workwith an excellent score from Brian Tyler for Transformers One and Kris Bower’s incredible soundtrack for The Wild Robot pushing these scenes onto some of the biggest names of all time.
Soundtrack makes Brightbill Leaving Roz and The Rise of Optimus the best animated scenes of 2024
Without music, these moments wouldn’t be so difficult
One of the most moving scenes The Wild Robot this is undoubtedly when Brightbill leaves Roz and the island to migrate with the rest of the geese. The track that plays during this scene is called “I Could Use a Boost”, a direct reference to a line from the scene itself. The music builds throughout the build-up to Brightbill’s departure, arriving with a great orchestral volume as he leaves, before quickly stopping when Roz is finally alone. The scene and song individually are beautiful, but together they elevate the moment to another level entirely.
This is similar to the climax in Transformers Onewhere Megatron kills Sentinel Prime and Orion Pax is reborn as Optimus Prime. The track is aptly called “The Fall,” as D-16 is completing his descent into evil as Orion literally falls toward the core of Cybertron. The sound effects were cut, leaving the music to swirl and grow throughout the scene, showing Megatron’s power and Optimus’ silent contemplation better than words alone couldbefore the intense metals erupt as Megatron kills Sentinel and proclaims his dominance and the silence that follows as Optimus Prime emerges.
The music makes many other scenes in Transformers One and The Wild Robot great
They’re not just one-hit wonders
Fortunately, the music in both films goes beyond just being a good piece, and the rest of the soundtracks are also excellent. The Wild Robot There’s a clear example of this in Brightbill’s training montage, featuring the great track “Kiss the Sky” by Maren Morris, which really sells the moment as a bonding experience for Roz and Brightbill. Transformers One there’s “Resting Place of the Primes”, which obviously takes place in the scene where the core team finds the dead Primes. The track excellently conveys the sadness of the moment, with just a touch of mystery. In both cases, the music expertly enhances an already moving sequence.
