The animated comedy got its name due to the fact that the main characters’ living quarters are located in the bowels of the ship. As a Starfleet officer rises through the ranks, he tends to be rewarded with better quarters. So, in “Upper Decks”, Boimler and his friends could very well be part of the bridge crew on the USS Cerritos. With these promotions would come better living conditions and, as such, the title and concept of the program would no longer make sense. So “Upper Decks” is probably the beginning of the end for Star Trek: Lower Decks.

As such, there is nothing stopping the production of a sequel to follow the exploits of Boimler and company during the next phase of their careers.
Alternatively, the Star Trek: Lower Decks Characters may even appear in other shows that already exist. The fact that Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome have already played their Lower decks live-action characters during Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episode 7 ‘Those Old Scientists’ Opens the Door for Them to Do It Again in Another Live-Action Star Trek show.
