The show was created by David Fincher and follows the FBI’s first serial killer profiles, with Mindhunter featuring all sorts of real-life serial killers as they are interviewed by the series’ main characters. The show is set in the 1970s and 1980s, making it a period piece as well as a drama.
Alongside Anna Torv, Mindhunter also stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallanywith this trio making up the main cast of Mindhunter. Why Mindhunter was canceled after season 2

Despite being critically acclaimed, Mindhunter it was canceled after season 2 and the reasons are complicated. David Fincher was heavily involved in Mindhunterleading him to halt production on the third season in 2019 so he could work on Man. David Fincher became busy with other projects and instead of forcing the cast of Mindhunter to wait, Netflix released them from their contracts. This led Fincher to announce that Mindhunter was made in October 2020.
David Fincher later explained some of the reasons behind Mindhuntercancellationwith the enormous cost of the series being the driving force behind the show’s early end. Fincher also cited the fact that he was simply tired of working on the show and wanted to get back to making movies. From now on, Mindhunter is officially over, with cast members like Anna Torv moving on to new projects like Netflix Territory.
