A fan art shows what it would be like if the characters of The Simpsons and SpongeBob SquarePants were combined. The Simpsons follows the residents of Springfield, particularly the Simpson family, and is the longest-running animated series of all time. SpongeBob SquarePants follows underwater characters living in Bikini Bottom and is Nickelodeon’s longest-running animated series.
Recently, a SpongeBob and The Simpsons Fan art from the crossover was shared on Instagram put @ben.the.mashup.man and features five characters, who are mixed and matched. For example, SpongeBob has Homer’s face and hair and is dressed as The Simpsons character when he goes to work at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. He is also holding a Krabby Patty. One of the other characters is Mr. Krabs, who looks like Mr. One of the other characters is Plankton, whose appearance is combined with Kang and Kodos from the “Treehouse of Horror” episodes. Check out the rest below:
What Fan Art Means for The Simpsons and SpongeBob SquarePants
The mashup shows characters that fit together perfectly
The art shows characters from The Simpsons and SpongeBob SquarePants that fit well. For SpongeBob, it would have to be someone from the Simpson family. Since SpongeBob acts like a child, Homer is the best foil as he often acts immaturelyeven more so than Bart and Lisa. Krabs are a good match as they are Homer and SpongeBob’s bosses. Squidward and Moe are also mirrors of each other because they are both very pessimistic.
Of all Homer’s friends, Barney acts more like Patrick. Neither Barney nor Patrick are the smartest residents of Springfield or Bikini Bottom. Barney also physically resembles Patrick more than Lenny or Carl. Just like Kang and Kodos, Plankton has a goal that he hopes will give him more power. However, while the two aliens want to take over the world, Plankton’s goal is smaller, where he hopes to steal the Krabby Patty recipe to help his restaurant.
Our Take on The Simpsons and SpongeBob Crossover Art
It looks like something out of Treehouse of Horror
The art combining the characters could have come from a “Treehouse of Horror” episode of The Simpsons. The segments often parody a story, sometimes changing the show’s animation style. Because the art combined characters who act similarly, it’s easy to imagine these characters from The Simpsons parodying SpongeBob SquarePants in a “Treehouse of Horror” segment. Giving Mr. Burns claws and a larger figure makes him appear more menacing than he normally is The Simpsonswhich would make him a perfect villain for a segment.
