14 years later Monk finished, the sequel to the film Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie it reinvigorated the fandom – but it wasn’t enough. While the film (along with the series finale) provided some closure, it also opened the door for the beloved franchise to continue with another Monk film. There is still a lot of unexplored territory in Monk universe, including the potential to bring back one of its many iconic guest stars.
In “Mr. Monk and the Big Game”, the series presented an unexpected Monk special appearance by Jennifer Lawrence in the role of mascot. Although her cougar costume made the young star unrecognizable for most of the appearance, the episode served as one of Lawrence's first television roles. It is because of this origin that, among all the famous Monk guest stars, Lawrence would be the best option for a reprisal role in a Monk film sequence. Having Jennifer Lawrence star in a second film would come full circle, given that her career success began with this small part in Monk.

Although it wasn't until 2010 that a breakthrough role came for Jennifer Lawrence in the film Winter Bonethis special participation in Monk It was certainly a pivotal step along the way, leading to recurring TV roles in the years to come. In this episode, Lawrence plays the mascot for Julie Teeger's (Emmy Clarke) high school basketball team, the Cougars, and hilariously attacks Mr. Monk's (Tony Shalhoub) back during a game.
For obstinate Monk fans who remember this iconic cameo, casting Jennifer Lawrence in a Mr. Monk's last case it would be a cute way to pay homage to the original show and the actor's impressive success since this small appearance. Not to mention the potential for a sequel to bring back the myriad of other famous guest stars who have already appeared on the Monk. Tim Curry and Snoop Dogg would be particularly good comedic choices.

His balance between dramatic and comedic skills is perfect for Monk
It would be amazing see Jennifer Lawrence's comedic potential manifest in a Monk film. The wide range of emotions that Lawrence is able to portray – as seen in his dramatic performances in titles such as Silver linings Playbook and The Hunger Games – is complemented by his effortless comedic skill. This would make her an excellent match for a Monk sequel film, given the series' expert balance between quirky comedy and emotionally heavy themes.
Furthermore, if a Mr. Monk's Last Case sequence they were happens and Jennifer Lawrence has been cast, there's one more truly artistic comedic move that could be made by creators Randy Zisk and Andy Breckman. Lawrence initially thought her appearance would be as one of the two Emilys in “Mr. Monk and the Great Game.” She soon discovered that she would be playing the Cougars' mascot instead, but casting Lawrence in the modern day as a character named Emily would be the best possible way to bring her into 2006.
