Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has officially made his Fast and Furious will return in 2023, and her involvement in the next film will mark the long-awaited reunion of an underrated duo. Having first appeared in 2011 Five quickThe Rock's Luke Hobbs has become a major part of the franchise, featuring in a total of 6 Fast and Furious filmsincluding your Hobbs and Shaw spin off. The actor's rivalry with Vin Diesel resulted in Hobbs' absence F9but luckily, Dwayne Johnson returned Fastmeaning he will once again have a crucial role in the final main film.
Despite the saga coming to an end, the action franchise seems likely to continue through spinoffs, with Johnson already having a project in the works. The Rock confirmed that Fast and Furious was developing a solo Hobbs spinoff, likely in an attempt to continue Hobbs and Shawsuccess by cashing in on Johnson's star power. While this is an exciting next step for the series, it's unclear how many characters from the main films will be involved, but the actor's next role in Fast and Furious 11 it even gives you one more chance to complete an emotional reunion.
Hobbs needs to have another scene with Roman now that he's back in the main cast
The duo must reunite before the main films come to an end
Although Hobbs and Roman had a limited number of interactions throughout their time on the Fast and Furious franchise, the duo should share at least one more scene now that The Rock is back. Naturally, Hobbs will likely team up with some of the biggest names, as his rivalry with Dante means he will almost certainly cross paths with Dom once again. Additionally, he may have some run-ins with Letty and Shaw due to their history, but a face-to-face scene with Roman is far from guaranteed; however, the action series shouldn't waste the two actors' involvement in the final outing.

It's been more than seven years since the duo last appeared side by side, and when Fast and Furious 11 leaving, it will be closer to nine. With audiences being deprived of their fantastic chemistry for so long, it would be a missed opportunity to keep Johnson and Gibson apart, especially since they provided some of the Fast and Furious'funniest scenes. Every time the two have worked together in previous films, they've delivered, and with the main story coming to an end, they deserve to at least have one final interaction.
Roman and Hobbs are Fast and Furious' most underrated duo
The Rock and Tyrese Gibson have great on-screen chemistry
Fast and Furious has had many great duos over its two decades of life, but Roman and Hobbs are easily the most underrated. Roman usually shares the screen with Tej – with Ramsey joining their dynamic in recent years – while Shaw has become Hobbs' main partner, thanks in large part to the spinoff. However, Whenever Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson pair up, it's usually golden as they clash perfectlyleading to some hilarious scenes. Hobbs shooting at the vending machine after Roman interrupts his briefing to buy a snack is a great example of his light-hearted humor.
Hobbs redirecting a missile at Fate of the Furious while Roman drives the car is both chaotic and comical, and remains one of the franchise's most memorable moments.
Additionally, Hobbs redirected a missile into Fate of the Furious while Roman drives the car is both chaotic and comical, and remains one of the franchise's most memorable moments. Even your small interaction during Fast and Furious 6The barbecue scene is a prime example of how brilliantly the two characters work together, and the fact that they didn't appear together exposes more Fast and Furious'huge problem of interaction between characters. Still, even though their time together was limited, they always provided incredible entertainment, making the team of Roman and Hobbs a franchise highlight.
Fast & Furious 11's Premise Could Complicate Hobbs and Roman's Reunion
The serious story and Hobbs' separation from the main team make interacting with Roman difficult
Although Johnson's return makes Fast and Furious 11 the perfect time for a Roman reunion, the film's premise will make that difficult. Hobbs' Fast The scene created a personal history with Dante, and while he will likely join the central characters at some point, it may take some time to get there. Additionally, Roman was last seen inside a plane that was shot down, leaving his fate unknown. While he'll undoubtedly be back, his mission with Han, Tej, and Ramesy appears to be separate from Hobbs', meaning the two may not team up until the final arc.
Assuming the entire crew comes together to create a final plan and execute the mission as a team, this only leaves a small window for Hobbs and Roman to interact. With the main saga entering its final hour, the stakes will be incredibly high, making it difficult to insert many moments of humor. However, despite these obstacles, Fast and Furious has always been good at implementing comedy, even in quite intense situations, which means as long as Roman and Hobbs are on the same team, there's still a small chance they'll have one more standout moment together.
