The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been creating debate since its release, but many agree that Sauron season 2's plot will be difficult to top. Rings of Power The season one finale reveals that the series' original character, Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), was actually Sauron all along. Halbrand transforms into Annatar in season two, marking huge progress in the series. Meanwhile, the series' main mystery shifts to the Stranger (Daniel Weyman), whose identity is finally confirmed in Rings of Power season 2 finale, leaving him free to oppose Sauron. However, even that might not raise Season 3 to the standard of Season 2.
Now Gandalf the Strange ends season 2 being taught by Tom Bombadil (Rory Kinnear) on how to increase his power and resist Sauron. Elsewhere Lord of Villains' the villain Sauron will be on a new journey of his own. Charlie Vickers excelled in the role of Halbrand and Annatar, and season 3 could very well see a whole new form of Sauron as he hands out the Rings of Men, takes control of the Orc army, and is eventually taken prisoner by Númenor. However, it will still be difficult for Rings of Power to the top of Sauron's Season 2 arc with Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards).
The Rings Of Power Season 3 Will Struggle To Top Season 2's Story Of Sauron And Celebrimbor
Season 2's Sauron story was a franchise highlight
It will be difficult for Sauron's storyline to compare to the brilliance of Season 2's Celebrimbor deception. Celebrimbor tragically dies at the end of Rings of Power Season 2, marking the end of the series' best storyline so far. The scene of his death was taken from Unfinished Storieswhat does it imply Celebrimbor may have one last swan song in the 3rd season. Sauron must also soon manipulate Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle) into doing his bidding. However, overall, Season 3 will sorely miss the influence of Charles Edwards, even if Sauron gets a similar arc by trying Ar-Pharazôn in Númenor.
Even the creation of the One Ring may not live up to the tension of Sauron's Season 2 arc
Sauron's arc still has big highlights coming
Sauron is expected to forge the One Ring soon, but even that may pale in comparison to the drama of Season 2. Charles Edwards and Charlie Vickers' chemistry is excellent how Sauron tricks Celebrimbor into thinking he is an emissary from the Valar. Season two built up the metaphor of Sauron as the deceiver archetype, and speeding up the pace or reducing the focus on that would be a shame. Sauron distributing the nine Rings of Men and developing Lord of the Rings' Ringwraiths on screen is incredibly exciting, but it will lack the central betrayal of the Celebrimbor arc.
Sauron will need Celebrimbor's help to forge the One Ring and will rely on what he managed to learn from him before killing him. In this sense, it will be interesting to see the intrigue between Sauron and Celebrimbor continue in the story of the forging of the One Ring, even after Celebrimbor's death. Hopefully, Sauron's deceiver will return in full force for the Númenor arc. Even so, it will be difficult to feel sorry for Pharazôn in the same way that it was natural to feel sorry for Celebrimbor, and that is what made The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Instantly iconic season 2.
