The reveal of Dexter's first death in Original Sin adds another tragic twist to his story with Deb

THE Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin adds another tragic twist to Dexter Morgan's relationship with his sister Deb. Developed by New blood creator Clyde Phillips, the prequel series chronicles a post-college Dexter as he embraces his “dark passenger” through the guidance and teachings of his adoptive father, Harry. Dexter implements Harry's code to satisfy his violent urges while ensuring he will never be caught.

After Michael C. Hall reprized his iconic role as the charismatic serial killer vigilante in 2021 Dexter: New Bloodhe returns as Dexter's inner voice and narrator in the prequel series. The series takes place in Miami in 1991, when Dexter begins his career at Miami Metro PD. Dexter: Original Sin it will likely cover some predicted deaths that are already established in Dexter lore. Dexter: Original Sin Episode 1 reveals where Deb was during Dexter's first kill with his first victim, Nurse Mary. The prequel series shows how Dexter began his serial killer career by disappointing her. He tells Deb he will go to her volleyball game because Harry couldn't make it since he was in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. Instead, Dexter breaks his commitment to Deb and loses the game to kill Nurse Mary.

Dexter let Deb down in the prequel series for her first kill and essentially ended his serial killing after letting her down in the original series. In Season 8 of the original show, Dexter said he would stop killing once and for all after it led to Deb's death.
