The Resident’s Season 7 revival chances addressed by stars after the recent success of Netflix

After its season 6 cancellation, The resident Appeared to be dead on arrival, but recent success could change the equation. The show first premiered on Fox in early 2018 and follows a group of workers at a hospital in Atlanta. With an ever-revolving door of cases, the team often struggled to ensure their patients were safe. The show was canceled in 2023 after season 6. Netflix has since picked up the show, and it has seen renewed interest on the streaming platform.

Manish Tog, who played Dr. Devon Pravesh, recently spoke to TVInsider About his performance in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. While discussing the horror show, he also mentioned his interest in seeing a revival of The resident After his recent success on Netflix. He would like to see a revival or spin-off, because he still loves the show’s cast and its many characters. Check out his full quote below:

It’s bittersweet because I would love for the show to go on. I would love to see Devin find the family he always longed for and wanted. I think it’s two-fold. He starts life as a doctor, risks it all and gives it all because of his ambitions. He goes to work really hard and six years later after he became a resident himself, he realizes that he was ironically in the same position as he started.

He still has so much to offer for a commitment he made years ago. It would be nice to see how he settled down and married his fiancé. At the same time, I think audiences know where it’s headed and believe in that relationship. They know they are destined for a real future. I think the show did amazing things. Amy Holden Jones was committed to shining a light on these issues in a way I don’t think so many people have been. She remained committed to the pilot until the last episode of season 6. She was unwavering in this way. I love my figure. We all miss each other and stay in touch and remain very good friends. I think we all agree that it would have been nice to join the story together, but we finally understand that all good things come to an end…

You better believe [I could see it return]. I would love it. It would be great for all of us to join forces and come together in a spin-off or something like that. See how The Walking Dead Did it was very creative. We would love to do it and I’m sure everyone would be down to play together again. It would be a lot of fun.

The fate of the show remains to be seen

The comments of the day do not hold any water in themselves. While Dayal would undoubtedly see a follow-up and would likely rejoin the cast, The decision to approve a revival will fall to Netflix’s creative directors and executive producers. Unfortunately, the cast has no direct control over the production, which is why Dayal has moved to focus his energies on the upcoming The Book of Carol. The medical procedural, unfortunately, remains in limbo as Netflix continues to think about a potential spin-off or sequel.

However, while his hopes are not entirely influential, they are a sign of one positive element: interest from his fellow cast members. The show’s cast could very well agree to return, if they are indeed as close as Dayal implies. Other stars, including Malcolm Jamal Warner and Ian Anthony Dale, have previously discussed their willingness to return. Even if the actors accept other projects, a return is not entirely impossible. It does not mean that a revival is guaranteed, of course, but it can mean that it can come with enough interest from the audience.

Our take on the revival of the residents

Netflix would be wise to continue the show

Barrett Cain (Morris Chestnut) holds the hand of Rose (Cara Ricketts) as she smiles at The Resident.

Since I come to stream, The procedural became a hit show. The residentThe success of Netflix has given it the opportunity to take its place as one of Netflix’s top domestic English-language shows. After its early cancellation deprived it of a proper finale, the platform could capitalize on the latter’s viewership potential by bringing the cast back for a farewell season. Netflix has already been renewed Arrested development, Mystery Science Theater 3000And Suits For spin-offs or follow-up seasons, so it’s not improbable. If the streaming giant wants more attention, it may soon secure its own medical drama.
