For some reason, this is told out of chronological order, showing the impact of these moments despite the fact that time is the one thing neither character can control.

The meeting between Almut and Tobias seems predestined: Tobias is stuck in a hotel room trying to complete divorce papers when his pen runs out of ink. He is forced to leave the hotel and wander the roads in his dressing gown, looking for a store to buy pens before being hit by a car on his way back.. Tobias wakes up in the hospital to find Almut waiting for him.and the two of them go to a diner to have lunch together. There, Almut tells Tobias that she is an up-and-coming chef and invites him to lunch at her new restaurant when it opens.

A few weeks later, Tobias meets Almut at her restaurant, where there is some awkwardness due to his table being set for two. When Almut asks this question, Tobias reveals that he was recently divorced. The film instantly shows them returning to Almut’s apartment, where they have sex for the first time. They spend the night and the next day together and there is immediate chemistry.leading to a meteoric start to their relationship.

Some time later, Tobias realizes that he is falling in love with Almut, but her statement on their first day together made him nervous.. Almut stated that she is not the kind of woman who would like to have children.and Tobias believes that this is so. He approaches her about this, thinking that this issue may further separate them in the future, which worries him because he is falling in love. She responds with anger, telling Tobias that he is getting ahead of himself. Almut and Tobias spend some time apart before he goes to apologize and they patch things up.
Almut learns for the first time that she has cancer
Almut makes a fateful decision that will allow her to have children
Some time into their relationship, Almut discovers for the first time that she has ovarian cancer. She and Tobias consider her options and she explains that her doctor advised her to have a hysterectomy to completely prevent the cancer from getting worse.. Due to her growing relationship with Tobias, the decision has become more difficult for Almut, as she is now considering the possibility that she would like to have a child with him. Although he respects her decision, Almut chooses an alternative path that will not ruin her chance of becoming pregnant. Unfortunately, this causes the cancer to return later.

After Almut’s initial recovery, she and Tobias have some of the happiest years of their lives. They initially struggle to conceive, but eventually manage to give birth to a daughter, Ella. Due to traffic in the tunnel, Almut is forced to leave Ella in a gas station restroom, where Tobias and the store employees help her through the process, resulting in a successful birth.
Almut finds out her cancer has returned
Almut decides he wants to live his last months to the fullest
Years later, Almut experiences some pain while working at a restaurant and realizes that her cancer has returned. She and Tobias meet with a doctor to discuss options, which will include months of chemotherapy, surgery and another round of follow-up treatments. At this moment, Almut surrenders to the possibility of her demise and decides that she would rather spend the remaining days of her life living to the fullest than subject herself to grueling treatment for a chance at recovery.
Almut agrees to participate in the “Golden Bocuse” and train secretly

After learning about his cancer, Almut agrees to participate in the Golden Bocuse culinary competition, but hides it from Tobias. She understands that Tobias would like her to spend time resting and recovering, but competition is very important to her.. She brings Jade in from her restaurant as her chef and begins training while dealing with the pain of cancer and trying to survive. This ultimately leads to her forgetting to pick Ella up from school one day.
Tobias finally proposes to Almut
Almut and Tobias decide to get married, but plans fall apart
Unfortunately, the wedding date coincides with the date of the Bocuse d’Or, and Almut ultimately chooses the latter.
Realizing that they may not have much time left together, Tobias finally proposes to Almut. He had previously shared his father’s belief that marriage added nothing to an already established partnership, but in their last days, he suggests that she celebrate their love with a ceremony.. Unfortunately, the wedding date coincides with Bocuse d’Or, and Almut ultimately chooses the latter, wanting to leave behind an achievement that her loved ones will remember her by. Tobias is hurt at first, but he accepts her feelings and calls off the wedding.

Almut has the last success in life
Despite everything, Almuth works tirelessly to get to the Bocuse d’Or, competing to the end. Earlier in the film, Almuth shares her story about the figure skater, explaining how much she loved competition. Much more than Tobias Almut is a person who thrives on achieving personal goals, and success at the Bocuse d’Or brings her long-needed personal satisfaction. for her life. She then returns to the skating rink, where she says goodbye to Tobias and Ella before heading out on her own, symbolizing her death.

Although We live in time Almut’s fate is never directly shown, it is implied that she passed away sometime before the end of the film. It’s important to note that Tobias and Ella are accompanied by a dog, which Almuth previously joked would be a good way for Ella to cope with the loss of her mother, suggesting that losing a pet would prepare a child for loss. But instead of seeing the dog die, T.Obias appears to have adopted the dog as a new companion for his daughter.. In the final scene, Tobias teaches Ella how to cook eggs just like Almut did.
A witty chef and a recently divorced woman have a chance encounter that changes their lives. As their love story progresses, they build a life together, but a hidden truth threatens to destroy their relationship, bringing humor, drama and emotional depth to their journey.
