The brutal antihero known as The Punisher
is a one-man army, always armed to the teeth with offensive weaponry that can easily incapacitate, maim and eradicate those who cross its path. After exchanging Earth’s soil for the vacuum of space, a variant of the Punisher acquires one of the deadliest arsenals the character has ever wielded, complete with gadgets straight out of a sci-fi film.
Well known for his almost sadistic tactics when it comes to taking down a perceived threat, Frank Castle aka The Punisher usually unleashes hell in the form of various firearms ranging from assault rifle type weapons, simple pistols, high explosives, high power. and, more recently, real superpowers acquired through demonic means.
In the 4-issue series titled Space: PunisherPunisher goes on a space journey seeking revenge as he pursues the members of a shadowy cosmic organization called the Six-Fingered Hand, with his Sci-fi-tinged arsenal consisting of laser claws, a lightsaber blade, and the Ultimate Null Void – the deadliest weapon in Marvel history.
Space Punisher uses high-tech sci-fi gadgets to totally annihilate your enemies
Space: Punisher – 2012 (Frank Tieri and Mark Texeira)
Opening this story with Punisher facing a horde of “Sym-Brood-Ants”, Frank presents “Sound” and “Fury”, his sonic pistol and energy revolver which completely obliterates your Klyntar-infused enemies. Calling his literal killing machine companion, Chip then The Punisher draws a lightsaber-style energy blade and then launches a “blackout bomb.” a weapon of mass destruction that opens a black hole and sucks in the entire Symbiote Brood-infested planet. Fighting an augmented version of Sabretooth, The Punisher promptly stabs him with a pair of double-pronged laser claws.and finally unleashes the “most powerful weapon in the universe”, the Ultimate Nullifier.
What’s interesting about this arsenal is obvious: it consists solely of futuristic weapons based on science fiction. Not one to travel the stars (unless Cosmic Ghost Rider counts), Frank generally sticks to what he knows, with his military background and proficiency with firearms and hand-to-hand combat being his preferred ways of waging war. However, as Frank is still a soldier at heart, having access to these types of tools makes him even more dangerous, with the Starship Marie, a sentient ship capable of blasting enemies from orbit and teleporting Frank as needed, effectively transforming the Punisher into a cruel and relentless high-tech threat.
Weapons like the Ultimate Nullifier, Black Hole Bomb, and Laser Claws give Space Punisher the edge in battle
But what is The Punisher without its tried-and-true inventory of military-grade firearms? For all the sci-fi weaponry the Punisher uses in this series Frank even finds time to throw some good old hotshot at his enemies, pulling out a machine gun and a pistol later in the story, and immediately taking the lives of several thugs in a way that harkens back to his gritty street roots. The Punisher will always be one of the most ruthless and deadly vigilantes in the Marvel Universe, and when given a sci-fi makeover, that’s even more true here.
