The producers of Married at First Sight season 18 made a huge casting mistake (was it on purpose?)

There was a major casting error made in Married at first sight season 18, but it may have been on purpose. Married at first sight season 18 has five episodes released, and viewers have met the season’s five couples: Emem Obot and Ikechi Ojoré, Karla J and Juan, Camille and Thomas, Michelle Tomblin and David Trimble, and Allen Slovick and Madison Myers. Different Married at first sight season 17, all the couples from season 18 said yes to each other at the altar. Season 17 had the franchise’s first runaway bride, leaving her fiancé, Michael Shiakallis, for a rematch.

Now, season 18 fans are watching the couples on the honeymoon portion of the experiment. THE Married at first sight Specialists, whose job it is to match, guide and advise couples, do not go on honeymoons, although this is where many initial problems arise. David and Michelle had nothing but trouble after saying I do and sharing their first kiss. There were several warning signs visible in David, and It’s questionable how he got through the casting and was chosen for the show. However, there could have been a reason for this.

Background of David Trimble

David loves his family

David, 35, works two jobs. He is a social worker and construction project manageralthough he hasn’t spoken about how he divides his time between the two. He is passionate about working out, as he wakes up every day at 4:30 am to go to the gym. David also has experience in physical competition.

David is extremely close to his family and idolizes his parents’ long and successful marriage. He was previously in an on-and-off relationship for 12 years. Perhaps the most problematic part of David’s upbringing is his current living situation. David lived in an empty unit he owned, but He decided to go live with his parents. He moved into the basement that his parents have at home. David explained that he pays rent to help them with their mortgage, has his own down payment and can move whenever he wants, but he is there by choice.

Michelle immediately had a huge argument upon hearing David’s revelation that he lived with his parents. She felt contempt for David’s living situation and thought it was unattractive for any man to live at home.

“Like your mother doing all the things you like for you, that’s unpleasant to me. I want someone who likes it, is independent.”

Michelle can’t see past the optics of David’s living situation, but David isn’t doing a good job of changing her mind. David’s history has negatively affected their marriage, as Michelle cannot overcome or try to understand why David has the home life circumstances that he does. However, David may have been chosen for a purpose.

Why was David chosen for MAFS?

What did the experts see in him?

The experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec, were all delighted with David. Outside of his background, David has a vibrant and boisterous personality. They considered David living at home with his parents as multigenerational living this is part of David’s culture and closeness to his family, not a red flag.

However, past Married at first sight cast who had similar, unstable living situations or roommate-type environments never worked out with their partners.

That should have been reason enough not to have chosen David as a cast member in MAFS season 18.

In addition to looking beyond David’s home life, experts looked beyond his abrasiveness, another trait Michelle is struggling with. Experts viewed this trait as charisma and zest for life, and as positive qualities he could bring to the marriage because he is motivated. Furthermore, experts thought David and Michelle would be physically attracted for each other. David asked for an independent, blonde, blue-eyed woman, and Michelle asked for a dark-skinned man with tattoos.

Is David a producing plant?

He has a great personality

The negative aspects of David’s living situation and loud personality are negatively affecting his marriage and should have been seen as warning signs. The fact that these aspects have been neglected raises the question of why Life the producers wanted him on the show.

David could be a producer in Season 18, aiming to intentionally create drama.

The producers could have cast him knowing that he and Michelle would face major problems. However, this is doing the show and viewers a disservice, as the entire premise of Married at first sight is to produce compatible and lasting couples.

MAFS producers’ decision to launch David could participate in the franchise’s larger narrative of producing more dramawhich has happened every season in recent years. Reality TV shows have been known to cast people who are not suitable for the purpose of the show, but who serve a larger goal of creating more controversial situations with entertainment value. Based on this trend, it is likely that David is a producing plant, as there is a proven track record in Married at first sight of the cast with similar family lives not working out.

Is David part of any MAFS season 18 scandals?

Is it possible

David is a miscast due to his questionable past and complicated character, but he appears to be serving a purpose for the producers. In Married at first sight in season 18 there will be two scandals: a cheating scandal and a couple swap. While it wasn’t possible to know in advance whether David would participate in any of them, it seems likely. @mafsfan on Instagram shared a trailer for season 18 that shows Michelle telling, probably David, that “married people don’t have sex with other women.”

This denotes that David is part of a dark drama that will unfold. At this moment, however, Married at first sight Season 18 is just beginning, so what Michelle is saying could be aimed at someone else or another couple’s circumstances. Either way, viewers have already seen David and Michelle have more dramaand this could be influencing the producers’ broader narrative in casting David on the show.

Married at first sight airs Tuesdays at 8pm EST on Lifetime.
