Netflix Dan-Dan became an instant hit within a few episodes and now the series also officially has the most streamed opening theme of the season, with the highest rating on Oricon. In addition to its wacky yet fun story and Science Saru’s stunning visuals, Dan-Dancatchy opening theme, “Otonoke” by Creepy Nutshas been successful since its release and has now become the artist’s second big hit.
According to a post by Oricon, Dan-DanThe opening theme to “Otonoke” was ranked first on Oricon’s Weekly Digital Single Ranking and Weekly Streaming Ranking, with nine thousand weekly downloads and 9.6 million weekly streams. The song became Creepy Nuts’ second single to achieve a double digital crown this year since Mashle‘Bling-Bang-Bang-Born’ in February 2024.

Dan-DanThe opening theme was already an instant fan favorite since the opening was first leaked during the infamous Netflix security breach in August. Despite this unfortunate incident, both the anime and the opening theme continue to grow in popularity with Otonoke becoming Creepy Nuts’ second big hit, and it’s easy to see why. The catchy rhythm and hypnotic chorus of “Otonoke” are impossible not to love, with the vibrant music video being another plus.
Many initially believed that Dan-DanThe opening of perhaps was an attempt to recreate the same fever as “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” which similarly topped the digital charts and even reached the 100 million streams mark a month after its release. Although “Otonoke” has not yet reached the same heights, given Dan-Dan‘is increasing virality, it may just be a matter of time before “Otonoke” catches up.
