The Office series finale originally planned to feature Michael Scott’s children

The series finale The office originally planned to feature Michael Scott’s children. After leaving the series in 2011, Steve Carell returned to the series finale in 2013, where Michael was the best man at Dwight Schrute’s (Rainn Wilson) wedding. Throughout the series, Michael often talked about how important it was for him to one day become a father.

Node Office Ladies Podcast (through Variety), series stars Jenna Fischer (Pam Halpert) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin), talked about The officeend of the series. On the podcast, they revealed that the show planned to bring back Amy Ryan as Holly, and had already written dialogue for her. However, Ryan was unable to return to the role due to his schedule. In the planned scene, Holly would have been interviewed holding her and Michael’s two children. She would then have revealed that the children were named Chebonshur and Lowshebin, and that Michael himself named them. Holly’s lines from the cut scene can be found below:

“Life is good. We have two sons: Chebonshur and Lowshebin. Michael named them. He said it was based on the feeling he had when he first saw them.”

What Holly’s appearance would mean for The Office series finale

Viewers would have learned more about Michael’s life in Colorado

Even though Michael’s children are not shown The office series finale, the episode confirms that he is now a father. If the episode had included Holly’s scene, it would have given more details about Michael’s children. Holly talking about how good her life is with Michael in Colorado would also have shown that Michael’s dream of getting married and having children (something he had dreamed of since he was a child) had not only come true, but that it was everything he had hoped it would be.

Even though viewers were hoping Michael would return, the show had to find the right balance to ensure his return didn’t overshadow everything else. Although Michael was the main character for the first seven seasons, the series continued for two years without him, and also had to wrap up everyone else’s stories.

Our take on the scene featuring Michael’s children

The scene would have contributed to the character’s moving ending.

The scene of Holly introducing Michael’s children would have been a nice addition to her already touching ending. By revealing that Michael was the one who named them, it would have shown how excited he was to finally be a father. Holly herself being included at the end would have also been a nice addition. Showing Holly taking care of the children would explain why she couldn’t attend the wedding herself.

Even though the scene didn’t happen, the series finale The office still found a touching way to show that Michael is now a father. In the scene where he shows Pam photos of his children, the joy on Michael’s face perfectly shows that he is now living the life he always wanted for himself.
