It was revealed that a returning character in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was originally supposed to die, but was saved because of this new Star Wars history. While the majority Skeleton CrewThe cast and characters of are new to the galaxy, including Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood and the main quartet of children. There is a well-known character who is expected to return as one of the story’s antagonists. This character, first introduced in The Mandalorian Season 3, almost failed to become part of Skeleton Crewbut fortunately his fate changed.
When speaking with Geek’s Lair, Skeleton Crew co-creator Christopher Ford revealed that Marti Matulis’ pirate Nikto, Vane, “was to die in Mando.” According to Ford, however, “theYou loved him, and they let him live, and then we took him.” Because the creative team at The Mandalorian decided to spare Vane’s life, he can now become an important part Skeleton Crewstory based on pirates, which created a very win-win scenario for Star Wars.
What Vane’s Survival Means for Star Wars
This is the perfect amount of interconnectivity
Have Vane survive and be part of Skeleton Crew enriches the greatest Star Wars narrative by adding an appropriate amount of interconnectivity between TV shows, similar to how the Star Wars Animated TV shows have been running over the years. Since Vane isn’t exactly a major character in The Mandalorian season 3, allowing it to play a more important role Skeleton Crew unites the two without making them depend too much on each other. It will also, in retrospect, make Vane’s story into The Mandalorian even better, which proves that this is a step in the right direction.
The Mandalorian has a habit of saving its characters from death
Vane is certainly not the first
Vane is far from the first character introduced in The Mandalorian to finally be saved from their predestined fate. The first characters to be rescued were Greef Karga, by Carl Weathers, and Fennec Shand, by Ming-Na Wen, who ended up becoming important characters in The Mandalorian and even The Book of Boba Fettin the case of the latter. This was also the case for the Mandalorian Ax Woves (Simon Kassianides) in season 2, which is why the Mandalorian mysteriously disappears during the events of The Mandalorian season 2 finale while his colleagues are still active in the story.
This makes Vane at least the fourth character in The Mandalorian to survive his fate, and the second to get into another TV show because of it. Of course, in this situation it makes perfect sense, because enriches the pirate plot of Skeleton Crew bringing a new and familiar face to the group. It’s not as big a cameo as a pirate like Hondo Ohnaka would be, but it’s still enough to let viewers have a recognizable pirate. Ultimately, it was the best decision for Vane to be a part of Skeleton Crewthe story.
