The new team of Spider-Man, Captain America and Thor officially debuts, revealing why Peter Parker believes Cap hates him

As Captain America, Thor and Spider-Man come together as Marvel’s new Warriors Three, fans find out why Peter Parker believes he is the last person Steve Rogers would want to work with. Although the Sentinel of Liberty, the God of Thunder, and the Friendly Neighborhood Wall-Crawler have worked together before in the Avengers, they are now uniting under a different banner to face a massive new threat that Marvel promises. “will it bring them closer or drive them all crazy!”

In a preview of J. Michael Straczynski and Charlemagne’s next film Captain America #14Thor returns to his old home of Broxton, Oklahoma, sensing that a new threat is at work. Years ago, Asgard was suspended over Broxton, with the townspeople and the gods learning to live side by side. Although Asgard eventually returned to its own plane of existence, Thor has loved Broxton’s residents ever since, making them targets when the ‘God of Hammers’ tried to attack him.

Elsewhere, Captain America settles into his new building, while Spider-Man tries to work up the courage to call Steve Rogers. Peter is still reeling from a recent adventure where he asked Cap for help but no threat materialized, wasting the legendary hero’s time. Fortunately, as the three are brought together by a mysterious new threat, Peter will have the chance to repair this neglected friendship.

Spider-Man, Thor and Captain America are Marvel’s three new warriors

But Peter Parker thinks Steve has a grudge against his last team

Marvel is keeping the exact nature of the threat the three heroes will face mysterious, however, it appears Thor senses something magical happening after seeing an aberration in a documentary filmed in Broxton. It is likely that this is some kind of threat linked to Asgard’s previous presence in Broxton, probably caused by the attack of the God of Hammers. Writer Straczynski previously worked on both Thor and Spider-Manmaking this a reunion of heroes whose mythology he forever influenced. So it’s possible that the new threat will combine the lore of Cap, Spidey, and Thor.

The three are uniting under the name ‘the Warriors Three’. This is an ancient Asgardian title usually bestowed upon Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg – long-time allies of Thor who share a strong bond. However, the codename has been used by other trios fighting in the best interests of Asgard, and this time it applies to all three Avengers. This is good for each of them, because they are all struggling with their main threats and the feeling of isolation, with Steve Rogers needing connection and support more than ever.

Captain America needs Spider-Man and Thor more than ever

Steve Rogers has assumed a cosmic status that changes everything

Captain America is an agent of change

Recently in Captain America comics, Captain America became an agent of Lyra – the personification of the cosmic force of Life. He fought his ‘brother’ Death and assembled a team of fellow ‘Agents of Change’ – beings who have the potential to further human progress as long as they remain alive. As part of this massive battle, Captain America saw his own future death and now knows that he will one day die in a second battle against Death himself. He has also finally realized that he is an “Agent of Change” and that his place in history has been part of a larger cosmic order, and not a matter of chance.

That’s a lot to handle, even for Captain America, and Steve Rogers has a lot to gain from reaching out to his allies. Thor has always respected Steve Rogers as the last in a long line of human leaders whose skill and bravery inspire even the God of Thunder, even if their lives are just a blip in history. Meanwhile, Spider-Man considers Captain America a paragon of superhuman virtue. Connecting with these heroes could help Steve Rogers realign his self-image, especially now that he knows the truth lies somewhere in between.

Spider-Man is notoriously terrible at maintaining his relationships with heroes

Peter Parker’s refusal to reach out is constantly alienating his allies

Marvel Heroes Explain Why Spider-Man Is Hated

Spider-Man’s concern about contacting Captain America makes sense, as Peter Parker is notoriously terrible at maintaining his relationships with superheroes. Despite being one of only three heroes invited to join the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four, Spidey isn’t very good at it keeping your relationships. Everyone from Wolverine to Miles Morales has told Peter that his inability to stay in touch and keep his allies informed about what’s going on in his life makes it difficult to truly be his friend. Given that he lives a life where he can disappear into another dimension or have his body stolen by a villain, Spidey’s lack of communication makes it difficult to trust him – something heroes need to do in life or death situations.

So it’s a step forward for Spider-Man to consider contacting Captain America just to talk, suggesting that Peter is finally learning from all the criticism he’s received before. Fortunately, he doesn’t learn the wrong lesson when his attempt to get to Cap results in him being drawn into battle against a deadly new threat. Like the Warriors Three, Spider-Man, Captain America and Thor They’ll have the opportunity to build a bond stronger than ever before – but only if they survive the experience.

Captain America #14 will arrive on October 30th from Marvel Comics.
