Shadowheart has one of the most detailed quests among the BG3 castand like many others, it diverges into two paths depending on what the player chooses to do. She can remain loyal to Shar and become a Dark Justiciar, or she can discover her past and become a Selûnite. On her Selûnite path, players have the option to deliver her to Viconia DeVir. Considering a lot of work went into getting Shadowheart where she is at the start of Act 3, this is a choice few are likely to make.
Still, players can throw away all their progress with Shadowheart and hand her over to her former mentor. By doing this, Shadowheart will be removed from the party and will not be able to return as part of commerce. The idea is that players can give up Shadowheart for Viconia’s help later, and it’s a particularly useful option for escaping the fight against Shar’s followers, as this is one of the hardest encounters in Act 3. Still, it’s definitely one of the cruelest options players can choose for Shadowheart.
