THE UCM saw the Avengers start from a group of six to several dozen as they all fought together one last time in Avengers: Endgame. They became a diverse group of heroes, ranging from talking trees to literal gods, with varying ages and power levels. The MCU timeline has seen it all, but there are some heroes who have experienced more than others. Despite all their differences, they managed to come together to defeat the greatest evil the universe has ever seen.
No matter what kind of powers they have or don't have, the Avengers have given their all to defend Earth, losing a few members along the way. Even so, there are some who continued to fight despite their age, not letting it slow them down from avenging the world. Here are the ten oldest Avengers in the MCU.
10
Ant-Man – Probably around 49
Ant-Man starts the list, coming in at 49 years old. There's no actual confirmation of Scott Lang's age in the MCU, but it's reasonable to assume he's roughly the same age as Paul Rudd, the actor who plays him. Paul Rudd was born in 1969, making him 54 years old in 2023, when Avengers: Endgame it happens. That's not exactly Ant-Man's real age, for a specific reason.
This is where it gets a little tricky, as it was revealed at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp that Scott was trapped in the Quantum Realm during the five years between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. During this time, Scott Lang has not aged, meaning he will still be the same age as he is in 2018, which is approximately 49 years old.
9
Hawkeye - probably around 52
Just like Ant-Man, Hawkeye's age is never referenced in the MCU. Because of this, actor Jeremy Renner is the model of what to predict for his age. Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow was the same age as her in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which means it's likely the same case for Hawkeye.
Given that Jeremy Renner was born in 1971, That would make Hawkeye 52 years old during events Avengers: Endgame. Unlike some other characters on this list, he has not been erased, meaning he has still aged during the five years since this happened. Hawkeye actually retired after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultronbut was brought back into the fold in Captain America: Civil War and then Endgame when his entire family disappeared.
8
Iron Man - 53
Robert Downey Jr. was the beginning of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing Tony Stark and Iron Man to life in a way that many fans thought would never be possible. When Avengers: Endgame arrived, Iron Man was the most essential part of the universe, and he made the ultimate sacrifice to stop Thanos. Tony Stark was 53 years old during the final fight with Thanos, where he sacrificed himself.
Avengers: Endgame reveals that Tony Stark was born in 1970 after traveling through time and meeting his father who is anxious about his soon-to-be-born son (who is Tony). Because Tony Stark wasn't warned Avengers: Infinity Warhe aged in those five years, which made him older than Ant-Man, who was probably born a year before him.
7
Hulk - 54
Alongside Iron Man and War Machine, Bruce Banner is in his 50s. He's actually a little older than Tony Stark, as Bruce was born in December 1969. Just like Iron Man and Hawkeye, the Hulk didn't disappear, meaning he continued to age during that time jump. period of five years. This puts Bruce Banner at age 54 during the events of Avengers: Endgame.
It's difficult to talk about Hulk's specific age, since he's not the same age as Banner, but technically he's still the same age. By the time we're shown in Avengers: Endgame, Bruce Banner has made peace with the big green guy inside him and can freely be the Hulk while still controlling his emotions.
6
War Machine - 50
Just like Iron Man, Rhodey (War Machine) has existed since the beginning of the MCU. First appearing in Iron Manthe character was played by Terrence Howard but was replaced by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2who has played War Machine ever since. War Machine was born in 1968, which makes him two years older than Iron Man, and also one of the oldest Avengers on the team.
He was 55 years old during the events of Avengers: Endgame and was one of the characters that was not erased for five years. The MCU has done a decent job of casting actors who are around the same age as their characters, or at least born close to the same year. Don Cheadle was born in 1964, which makes him a little older than his MCU character.
5
Captain Marvel - Circa 58
In the MCU, Captain Marvel was born in 1965, making her 58 years old once she fights Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. It may seem shocking to some, given that Brie Larson is only 35 in real life and doesn't look anywhere near her 58, but there's a good reason why Captain Marvel looks so much younger despite being one of the oldest Avengers.
ParagraphCaptain Marvel technically died in 1989, but she was brought back by receiving a transfusion of Kree blood and the power of the Space Stone. Because she is now a Kree-human hybrid, she ages more slowly than a normal human, along with the effects of the Space Stone. This allows her to look and feel physically younger despite technically being much older. It was this change that also made her one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU.
4
Bucky-101
This is where the age of the Avengers really starts to rise. Bucky was born in March 1917 and enlisted to fight in World War II. During Captain America: The First AvengerBucky dies. It wasn't until the Captain America: The Winter Soldier that it was revealed that he actually lived and was turned into an assassin by HYDRA, being cryogenically frozen between missions to ensure he would live for a long time. Steve Rogers helps Bucky break free from control and is able to try and build a new life for himself.
Despite being born a year before his best friend Steve Rogers, Bucky is technically four years younger than him during the events of Avengers: Endgame because he was unfortunately one of the Avengers who disappeared. Taking this into account, Bucky turns 101 in Avengers: Endgame.
3
Captain America - 105
Just like his best friend Bucky, Steve Rogers wanted to enlist in the army to fight during World War II. He was denied, but ended up becoming Captain America after being injected with a super soldier serum. This is not the reason why Steve Rogers looks so much younger despite being one of the oldest Avengers.
In truth, Steve Rogers was 105 years old during events Avengers: Endgame. He was born in 1918, but after defeating Red Skull, Steve crashed the plane intended to destroy the US into the ocean. He was frozen as a result of the action and went undiscovered for nearly 70 years, allowing him to be in excellent physical shape to become a member of the Avengers. After traveling through time to return the Infinity Stones, he decides to live a normal life as if he had never entered the ice, marrying Peggy Carter in the process.
2
Thor – At least 1,500
The difference between Captain America and the two older Avengers is huge, and for good reason. Thor is an Asgardian and the God of Thunder, who lives much longer than a typical human. In fact, Asgardians can live for around 5,000 years, give or take, which means Thor will still be around long after most of the other Avengers are gone.
In Avengers: Infinity War, Thor tells Rocket Raccoon he is 1,500 years oldeasily making him the oldest member of the original Avengers and the second oldest at the end of Avengers: Endgame. It's crazy to think that Thor has existed for so long in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, living hundreds and hundreds of years before Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, and most of the others existed.
1
Valkyrie - 1,500+
By far the oldest member of the Avengers is Valkyrie, who first appeared in Thor: Ragnarok. Valkyrie is a maiden shieldmaiden who swore to defend the throne of Asgard and operated long before Thor was even born. In fact, Thor comments that he used to hear stories about them when he was a child, indicating that Valkyrie is much older than him.
Of course, there is real confirmation of Valkyrie's age, but She's at least older than Thor and since she already fought Hela before her return in Thor: Ragnarokthere's a good chance it's several thousand years old. Like Thor, she is Asgardian, which means she still has a lot of time left. No matter what her actual age is, Valkyrie is easily the oldest member of the Avengers in the world. UCM.
