Everything is in place for The Fantastic Four: Getting Started' Galactus will be a more dangerous and successful villain than Thanos once he makes his MCU debut. Not just Matt Shakman The first four fantastic steps introduce the titular team of superheroes, Silver Surfer, and an all-new MCU timeline, but also an all-new version of one of the most powerful villains in Marvel lore: Galactus. Ralph Ineson will play Galan de Taa aka Galactus in Fantastic Four: Getting Startedwhere the Eater of Worlds can live up to his name and attempt to consume the Fantastic Four's alternate reality Earth.
In the comics, Galactus' plan to swallow the Earth has been thwarted repeatedly by the Fantastic Four, who negotiate with the cosmic villain, threaten him or prevent him from dying with the Ultimate Null Void, or simply delay his arrival. Powerful characters like Franklin Richards and Doctor Doom have defeated Galactus in the comics. However, the Eater of Worlds is generally considered a nearly unstoppable threat to the world. In the MCU, Galactus' nearly unstoppable nature could bode ill for The Fantastic Four: Getting Started'new MCU timeline.
The Fantastic Four may rescue Galactus after their final appearance in the film
The MCU's Galactus will likely be a much more faithful adaptation than Fox's
After Fox Fantastic Four introduced Marvel's first family in 2005, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer took a huge leap forward in the team's history and pitted them against Galactus. THE Fantastic Four The sequel's Silver Surfer is widely considered the film's main highlight, with Doug Jones' physical representation and Laurence Fishburne's voice fitting as a top-notch representation of Galactus' Herald Norrin Radd. However, Galactus himself was a huge disappointment, as he the Eater of Worlds was depicted as a cosmic cloud rather than an anthropomorphic supervillain.
Fortunately, the casting of Ralph Ineson as Galactus for The Fantastic Four: Getting Started marks a big change in the character compared to Fox's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Not only will the MCU's Galactus have a human-like voice, but he will also appear as a cosmic giant with a Celestial-like costume and his iconic horned helmet.. Galactus' anthropomorphic appearance will make him a true supervillain rather than a force of nature, granting him the opportunity to have his own personality and character similar to MCU villains like Loki, Ultron, and Thanos.
The Fantastic Four's Setting Is Key to Galactus' Impact
Galactus may have free reign to destroy the world in Fantastic Four: First Steps
Another significant change The Fantastic Four: Getting Started will do for the team is its origin. Instead of placing their powers in the same timeline as the Avengers, the MCU's Fantastic Four will make their debut as an already established team in an alternate universe. The Fantastic Four: Getting Started borrows heavily from the 1960s. Since the Fantastic Four universe is brand new and completely separate from the main MCU timeline, it could easily be destroyed without affecting the rest of the MCU's established characters.. Of course, Galactus could be the one to take the honors.
In the MCU, the Fantastic Four could create their first lifeboat to find a new home
Galactus' unstoppable nature makes him a difficult character to adapt into a live-action film, as the chances of him actually destroying the world in a film are slim. Galactus is much more likely to succeed in The Fantastic Four: Getting Started' alternate timeline, consuming Earth and leaving the Fantastic Four adrift in space and thus ready to find refuge in a different universe. In the comics, the Future Foundation's creation of a lifeboat allows several characters to survive the end of the multiverse. In the MCU, the Fantastic Four could create their first lifeboat to find a new home.
Why the Fantastic Four should have a depressing ending
Fantastic Four's dark ending may be the only way Marvel can do Galactus justice
The introduction of the Fantastic Four into a different timeline than the Avengers and X-Men may be disappointing to some, but The Fantastic Four: Getting Started' in the Multiverse Saga could be a blessing in disguise for one of Marvel's most important villains. Galactus could fulfill his sole purpose in life in The Fantastic Four: Getting Started' ending – a feat that would otherwise be impossible in any other live-action adaptation. Furthermore, the Fantastic Four's defeat by Galactus gives Marvel's First Family a clear reason to begin exploring the multiverse before their involvement in Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Josh Brolin's Thanos set the bar very high for MCU villains after Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Kang the Conqueror was supposed to up the ante, but even ignoring Jonathan Majors' legal issues and subsequent dismissal, Kang failed to make a significant impression on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawhere the Conqueror was defeated by Scott Lang and his allies. If the Fantastic Four can't stop Galactus in their debut film, The Fantastic Four: Getting Started'Galactus would replicate Thanos' Avengers: Infinity War victory and establish him as an even greater threat to the Avengers on Earth-616.
