The masked singer the 12th season had 15 mystery celebrity singers competing for the coveted Golden Mask trophy, and the Buffalos won the show and were revealed as Boyz II Men. The masked singer season 12 welcomed host Nick Cannon, along with panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. John Elway – Leaf Sheep
Masked Singer Group A Competitor
The first Masked Singer The season 12 contestant to be revealed was Leaf Sheep, who was NFL legend John Elwaywho is a two-time Super Bowl champion and a member of the NFL Hall of Fame. Their masked ambassador was The masked singer Season 11 contestant DeMarcus Ware, who was Koala. John was unmasked during opening night following his performance of Tim McGraw's “I Like It, I Love It.” The panelists' final guesses for Leaf Sheep were Troy Aikman (Robin), Tom Brady (Jenny), and Billy Bob Thornton (Rita). Only Ken guessed correctly.
After being outed, John shared that he wasn't in his comfort zone doing The masked singerbut he's retired now, he had the opportunity and he took advantage of it. He added that it was great to be there and that he had a great time. John thought all his grandchildren would be “happy to see Poppy jump off the Leaf Sheep.” John ended his appearance on the show with a lively reprise of “I Like It, I Love It.” accompanied by Nick and the speakers.
Yvette Nicole Brown – Showbird
Masked Singer Group A Competitor
The masked singer Season 12 Group A contestant Showbird was unmasked during Free Night, and revealed to be actress Yvette Nicole Brown. Yvette started Masked Singer journey on opening night, when she was introduced by her Masked Ambassador and Community co-star Joel McHale, who was a guest speaker on the show. She sang Mary J. Blige's “Just Fine” and impressed the panelists with her voice and stage presence.
During Free In the evening, Yvette sang a rousing version of “Let's Hear It for the Boy” by Deniece Williams. She did a fantastic job singing and dancing, and was a complete crowd pleaser. Before being unmasked, the Masked Singer the panelists gave their final guesses about his identity. Ken discovered that Showbird was his good friend and Community co-star Yvetteand Robin agreed with him. However, Jenny guessed she was Taraji P. Henson, while Rita thought she might be Sheila E.
After she was unmasked, Yvette shared that she was thrilled because being on The masked singer it was a love letter to Ken. She said they had been asking her to do the show for years. Yvette added that singing was her first love, but when it didn't work out, it was difficult. However, she did the show for Ken. Yvette said that it had been twenty years since she sang as herself, rather than as cartoon characters or in Community. Yvette then sang a lively reprise of “Let's Hear It for the Boy,” which got everyone up and dancing, including Nick and the panelists.
Marsai Martin – Woodpecker
Masked Singer Group A Competitor
During The masked singer Season 12 Group A finals on the My Life Night soundtrack, Woodpecker was unmasked and revealed to be actress Marsai Martin. Marsai made her debut on opening night, during which she performed “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus. She was introduced by her masked ambassador, Jenifer Lewis, who was her Black co-star and The masked singer Season 11 contestant Miss Cleocatra.
Marsai then advanced to Free Night, and sang “Holding Out for A Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. During the My Life Night soundtrack, she was the first to say goodbye during the double elimination after singing “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae. Throughout all these presentations, Marsai showcased her spectacular vocals and stage presence.
Before Marsai was unmasked, the Masked Singer panelists offered their final guesses for Woodpecker, including Liza Koshy (Robin), Keke Palmer (Rita), Quinta Brunson (Ken) and Tatyana Ali (Jenny). No one has been able to correctly guess Marsai's true identity.
After she was unmasked, Marsai shared that she did The masked singer because she and her grandmother Bonnie have always watched the show since the beginning. She also said that singing has been out of her comfort zone for a long time. It was fun and exciting for her to be able to be behind the mask and have a facade. Paula Cole – Ship
Masked Singer Group A Competitor
The masked singer Season 12 contestant Ship was unmasked during the Group A finals on the My Life Night soundtrack, and revealed to be singer Paula Cole. Paula debuted on opening night with her mystical version of “Pompeii” from the Bastille. Their masked ambassador was The masked singer season 6 winner Jewel, who was Queen of Hearts.

THE Masked Singer The season 12 panelists chose not to use the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell to save anyone, so the Buffalos moved on to the quarterfinals, while Ship was unmasked and revealed to be Paula. Before she revealed herself, the panelists made their final guesses about her identity, including Sarah McLachlan (Rita), Alanis Morissette (Ken), and Amy Lee (Robin). Only Jenny guessed Paula correctly.
After being unmasked, Paula said she joined The masked singer season 12 because she was invited. She thought it made her uncomfortable, but she also thought it There were so many possibilities when people “recover your bravery” and do something outside of your comfort zones. Paula shared that she tried hard and it was fun.

Andy Richter – Dust Bunny

During The masked singer season 12 Group B premiere on Sports Night, Dust Bunny was unmasked and revealed to be actor and comedian Andy Richter. Andy did his Masked Singer debuts with a rousing version of Neil Diamond's “Sweet Caroline.” Its masked ambassador was Dick Van Dyke, who was The masked singer Season 9 Gnome.
Dust Bunny was a unique costume because it had clues hidden throughoutincluding on the back. When he was unmasked, Andy explained some of the clues, including a race car that represented Talladega Nightsand popcorn, which referenced the time when he and Conan O'Brien used to review films and eat popcorn. Andy admitted he wouldn't have guessed these clues.
Like a dust bunny, Andy completely surprised the speakers. Before he was unmasked, they offered their final guesses about his identity, including Will Ferrell (Ken), John C. Reilly (Jenny), Jay Leno (Rita), and Chevy Chase (Robin). After he was unmasked, when Nick asked him why he wanted to join The masked singerhe jokingly said that he had a four-year-old son and needed to leave the house.
For his final message, Andy shared that he wanted to say what a joy it was to work there and how much fun he had. Andy concluded his appearance on the program with a rousing reprise of “Sweet Caroline”. which had everyone, including Nick and the panelists, singing and dancing along. As Dust Bunny, Andy had everyone at the moment and was certainly a joy to watch.
Laverne Cox – chess piece
Masked Singer Group B contestant
During The masked singer season 12 Barbie Night, Chess Piece was unmasked and revealed to be actress and activist Laverne Cox. She began her appearance on Sports Night with a beautiful, slow version of Cher's “Believe.” On Barbie Night, she sang an inspiring rendition of Chaka Khan's “I'm Every Woman.” Laverne's masked ambassador was Nikki Glaser, who was Snowstorm from season 8.
None of Masked Singer the panelists were able to guess that the chess piece was Laverne. Before she was unmasked, they offered several other celebrities for their final guesses, including Misty Copeland (Robin), Serena Williams (Jenny), Issa Rae (Ken) and Tyra Banks (Rita). They were thrilled to discover that the chess piece was Laverne. Jenny even pointed out that they've mentioned her before.
After his unmasking, Laverne shared that she has a lot of trauma from singing, and her Masked Singer the experience made her feel that, perhaps with a mask, she could overcome some of her fears and work through some of the trauma. She shared that she didn't even realize how deep it was until she started.
Laverne added that what was so fun about Barbie Night was that she got to sing and dance like she did when she was a kid, and it didn't have to be right and it didn't have to be perfect. She just had fun. Laverne said I hope this is the beginning of her further healing from this trauma. She said that, just like she said about her Barbie, it's never too late to have a happy childhood.
Laverne also shared that It was a dream come true to have a Barbie inspired by herafter her clue package shared this fact about her. She even revealed that her real Barbie doll was shown as one of her clues.
Laverne also said that to be an openly trans Black woman in the United States of America right now, she is incredibly blessed.. However, she added that there are a lot of people out there who are struggling and “We are human beings who deserve love and opportunities and, like everyone else, we all deserve that.” Laverne concluded her appearance on the show with a spirited reprise of “I'm Every Woman.”
Natalie Imbruglia – Bluebell
Masked Singer Group B contestant
During The masked singer Season 12 Group B Finals on 60s Night, Bluebell was unmasked and revealed to be singer and actress Natalie Imbruglia. Natalie had already won The Masked Singer in the UK season 3, when she competed as Panda. Natalie's Masked Ambassador was Kelly Osbourne, who was The masked singer Ladybug from season 2.

She first appeared as Bluebell during Sports Night, when she sang a catchy version of Pat Benatar's “We Belong.” She followed with an electrifying rendition of Dua Lipa's “Dance the Night” on Barbie Night. Natalie's final competition performance on the show was her moving rendition of The Contours' “Do You Love Me”.
One of the best parts about Natalie Masked Singer This was the season 12 race she surprised all the speakersas none of them were able to guess his true identity. Before she was unmasked, they offered their final guesses as to who she could be. They included Naomi Watts (Jenny), Isla Fisher (Robin), Rose Byrne (Ken) and (Kylie Minogue).
When Natalie was unmasked, the panelists were shocked to see that Bluebell was her. Jenny said they had guessed her in the past and when she finally arrived, they didn't realize it. Natalie shared that she chose to do The masked singer why it was really fun for her to do the dance choreography and things that she doesn't do in her music career. However, Natalie revealed that she actually 'a stage school boy', so she grew up doing it and it's fun for her.

Bethany Hamilton – Macaron
Masked Singer Group C Contestant
The masked singer Group C's 12th season premiered on the night of Who Are You Fest, during which Macaron was unmasked and revealed to be award-winning professional surfing legend Bethany Hamiltonwho lost his arm in 2003 due to a shark attack. Bethany's Masked Ambassador was her friend, Willie Robertson, who was The masked singer Mallard from season 6.
As Macaron, Bethany sang an energetic version of Carly Rae Jepsen's “Call Me Maybe”. After her performance, the panelists offered some interesting guesses about her identity, including Ken's guess, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who Rita said she also thought of. Nick then asked Bethany what her life's journey has taught her and how she continues to inspire so many people. She responded that, for her, being unstoppable does not mean being perfect. She said she's a mother of four, and some days she gets to the end of the day, and she's “exterminated.” Bethany added, “For me, it's getting back on the board and paddling back, even when you feel discouraged. Even when you feel low. And just knowing that you can overcome.” Bethany then concluded Masked Singer period with a fun, unmasked reprise of “Call Me Maybe.”
Drake Bell – Ice King

Before Drake was unmasked, the panelists offered their final guesses about his identity. They included Shia LeBeouf (Rita), Joe Jonas (Ken), James Franco (Jenny) and Cole Sprouse (Robin). Although Jenny changed her guess, she also mentioned Drake Bell as a possible final guess..
After he was unmasked, Drake Was Praised for Being Brave in Sharing His Story Last Year. He said it had been a long and very difficult road, but to get to The masked singer and seeing the support and being able to put smiles back on people's faces is the reason he is an artist and why he does what he does. During The masked singer Season 12 Group C finals on Peanuts Night, Royal Knight was unmasked and revealed to be actress, singer and New York Times bestselling author Jana Kramer. His masked ambassador was season 11's Afghan hound, Savannah Chrisley. Jana kicked off her appearance on the show with a stunning rendition of Lady Gaga's “Yoü and I” on Who Are You Fest Night, followed by a heartfelt and moving rendition of “When I Look At You” on Miley Cyrus' night.
On Peanuts Night, Jana sang an electrifying version of Madonna's “Holiday.” Before Jana was unmasked, panelists offered their final guesses about her identity, including Anna Faris (Rita), Kelly Ripa (Ken), and Busy Philipps (Robin). Only Jenny correctly guessed that she was Jana because she appeared on Jana's show Commiserate with Jana Kramer podcast. She deciphered a clue about the podcast, which helped her guess Jana.
When Jana was unmasked, she revealed that she joined The masked singer because her daughter loves the show. She said she loves watching it with her kids. Jana confessed that she cried when she found out that she would be the Royal Knight because her husband always calls her “Little Warrior”. The second Group C competitor to be unmasked during The masked singer the season 12 Group C finals on Peanuts Night were Sherlock Hound who was retired Major League Baseball pitcher Bronson Arroyo. Bronson's Masked Ambassador was retired MLB pitcher Barry Zito, who was The masked singer Season 3 Rhino.
Bronson started his Masked Singer perform at Who Are You Fest Night with his incredible version of Red Hot Chili Peppers' “Under the Bridge.” He then sang a powerful version of “Used to Be Young” on Miley Cyrus' night. During Peanuts Night he performed a moving version of the Lumineers' “Ho Hey” followed by his powerful version of Ed Sheeran's “Shivers” during the Battle Royale versus Strawberry Shortcake.
After he was unmasked, Bronson shared that he started singing when he was in the minor leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He started strumming a guitar around a campfire and that turned into a few records. Bronson added, “You've got to have something to work toward in life. And when you're done playing, it's nice to go on stage with a full band and have to keep up with guys who are so much better than you.”
When Nick asked him which was harder, throwing a shut-out or singing The masked singerBronson responded that it was a difficult question, but it was more stressful to sing on stage. He added, “Well, you know, when you hit a tennis ball against the wall as a kid, you know, you dream of pitching in the World Series, and I was experienced for that. fully experienced for this.” Bronson completed his Masked Singer perform with a stirring unmasked version of “Ho Hey” accompanied by the Peanuts gang.
Kobie Turner – Goo

After public voting, Bluebell was unmasked and revealed to be Natalie Imbruglia. Next, Goo and Wasp competed in Battle Royale for a spot in the quarterfinals. They each sang their own incredible version of Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.” Wasp won the Battle Royale, but the panelists couldn't bear to see Goo go. Therefore, they decided to save Goo with the Ding Dong Keep It On Belland he also made it to the quarterfinals.
During The masked singer quarter-finals of season 12, Goo sang a magnificent version of “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. However, he ended up on Smackdown versus Strawberry Shortcake after Wasp and the Buffalos reached the semifinals based on voting. Goo sang “Hold On, I'm Comin'” by Sam & Dave, while Strawberry Shortcake sang “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara. Strawberry Shortcake advanced to the semi-finals, while Goo was unmasked and revealed to be Kobie.
After Kobie was unmasked, he shared that music has been a big part of his life since he was a kid. He said his biggest goal as an athlete is being able to show that they are much more than just athletes. Kobie stated that there is much more to all of them. He added that being on The masked singer it had been so incredible. He then revealed that the entire time there was a ram in the center of his suit's bow tie, which represented his team, the Los Angeles Rams, but the panelists missed this clue.
For his final message, Kobie said it was amazing to be there with everyone. He shared that putting on the Goo mask brought a lot of healing to his life because he was able to sing on Masked Singer internship. Kobie concluded his appearance on the show with a joyful unmasked version of “Lose Control.” As Nick said, he will always be remembered as a Masked Singer legend.
AJ Michalka – Strawberry Shortcake

During The masked singer semi-finals of the 12th season, participant of Group C Strawberry Shortcake was unmasked and revealed to be the actress, singer and songwriter AJ Michalkawho is also half of the duo Aly & AJ. AJ's Masked Ambassador was her The Goldbergs co-star and good friend, Hayley Orrantia, who was The masked singer Season 7 Ringmaster.
AJ made his debut as Strawberry Shortcake at Who Are You Fest Night, during which she sang an excellent version of Kacey Musgraves' “Slow Burn”. She followed that up with her powerful version of “Wrecking Ball” on Miley Cyrus Night, and her beautiful version of Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” during the Group C finals on Peanuts Night on Thanksgiving Day.
During the Peanuts Night Battle Royale, AJ competed against Bronson Arroyo's Sherlock Hound, in which they both sang spine-tingling versions of Ed Sheeran's “Shivers.” AJ won the Battle Royale and advanced to the quarterfinals, while Bronson was unmasked. During The masked singer In the quarterfinals of season 12, she sang “Closer” by Tegan and Sara, which surprised the audience. She then faced Kobie Turner's Goo in the Smackdown, during which she sang Alessia Cara's “Scars to Your Beautiful”, while he sang Sam & Dave's “Hold On, I'm Comin'”. AJ emerged victorious and advanced to the semi-finals.
During The masked singer In the season 12 semi-finals, AJ sang a beautiful and moving version of Selena Gomez's “Lose You to Love Me.” She then fought with the Buffalos during the first Smack Royale, during which they sang OneRepublic's “Counting Stars” in an epic duet. The Buffalos won Smack Royale and advanced to the finals, along with Wasp, who had won in the previous vote, while AJ was unmasked.
Before AJ was revealed, the panelists offered their final guesses about her identity. They included Kelsea Ballerini (Robin), Sarah Hyland (Jenny) and Joey King (Ken). Rita was absent from the episode due to illness, so she didn't have a final guess. No one guessed AJ correctly the entire Masked Singer season 12.
After her unmasking, AJ shared that she wanted to do The masked singer because she never sang alone after being in a band with her sister, Aly, for years. Aly and AJ took a long break from music since 2017, but have now returned. AJ revealed that they are making a new album now. AJ also said that she never did anything alone, like The masked singerso she just wanted to challenge herself. She added that Aly just had a baby, so she was doing the show for herself and her son.

Mario – Wasp
The Masked Singer Season 12 Runner-up
During The masked singer season 12 finale, Group B contestant Wasp came second and was revealed to be singer and actor Mario. Mario's masked ambassador was Ne-Yo, season 10 winner Cow. Ne-Yo wrote Mario’s hit “Let Me Love You.”
Mario started his legendary Masked Singer performed to a phenomenal rendition of Justin Timberlake's “Rock Your Body” that included incredible dance moves. He showed off his versatility as an artist by following up with a soulful rendition of Demi Lovato's “Skyscraper” on Barbie Night. During the Group B finals on 60s Night, Mario once again surprised the audience by going in a completely different direction with his spectacular rendition of Aretha Franklin's “Ain't No Way”, featuring his signature falsetto.
In the Group B Finals Battle Royale, Mario faced Kobie Turner's Goo, during which they both sang their own excellent version of Marvin Gaye's “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”. Mario won the battle, but the panelists decided to save Goo with the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell, so the two moved on to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Mario sang a phenomenal rendition of Jungkook's “Standing Next to You,” complete with impressive dance choreography..
During The masked singer In the season 12 semi-finals, Mario sang a soulful rendition of Benson Boone's “Beautiful Things”, which took him straight to the season finale. He ended his beautiful journey on the show with two spectacular performances of “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars and “I'm Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston. After the audience and panelists voted, Mario came in second place behind Boyz II Men's Buffalos. Nick announced that the vote was “very, very, very close.”
Before Wasp was unmasked, the panelists gave their final guesses about her identity. They included Jason Derulo (Jenny) and Usher (Ken), but Rita guessed Mario correctly after identifying his voice in a previous episode. Robin agreed with Rita and also gave Mario his final guess.
When Mario was unmasked, he said: “still smells like victory.” He shared that he did The masked singer because he has a vivid imagination, and the show gave him “a chance to really go back to being that kid who didn't get the chance to be a kid.” He also said that he started in the music industry at age 15, after being adopted at 13. Mario thanked everyone for the “amazing experience.” He also gave a shout out to the Buffalos, saying he thought he knew who they were and that they were “incredible.”
Mario closed out his Masked Singer season with an emotional maskless performance of his iconic hit, “Let Me Love You,” which showcased his beautiful falsetto. The Buffalos then advanced to the season finalewhile Strawberry Shortcake was unmasked and revealed to be AJ.
During The masked singer season 12 finale, Boyz II Men sang a stunning version of Gotye's “Somebody that I Used to Know.” They then concluded their appearance on the show with a performance of Sam Smith's “Too Good at Goodbyes,” which finally showcased their signature a cappella harmonies. Boyz II Men made history as the first group to win The masked singer.
All over The masked singer season 12, panelists offered many different guesses about the identity of the Buffalos. They included B2K (Jenny); Earth, Wind and Fire, Black-Eyed Peas without Fergie and Blackstreet (Rita); the Jonas Brothers, 98 Degrees without Nick Lachey. Big Time Rush, The Temptations and After 7 (Robin); and Bell Biv DeVoe, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Tony! Tony! Tone! and Color Me Badd (Ken).
However, it was Jenny's initial hunch about Boyz II Men that ended up working out. She explained how the Buffalo clues fit into them and was very convincing. After Boyz II Men were unmasked, Nathan explained that they decided to team up The masked singer why “When you've been an artist for about 30 years, people tend to try to put you in a hole about what you can and can't do.” He shared that the group worked to trick speakers into not recognizing their voices. Nathan revealed that they tried out songs that no one had ever heard them sing before, and they also switched up parts and had people sing parts that they normally don't sing.. He added, “And then when the competition got fierce, we just had to tighten the screws.”
Boyz II Men then gave credit to Mario for being such a worthy competitor. Mario replied that he wouldn't be there if it weren't for them. After Nick asked them for some last words as winners of The Masked Singer, Wanyá said that they really appreciate everyone for allowing them to show their personalities. He added that they love to have fun and everyone has given them the platform to do so.
Wanyá continued, “So, just for everyone here who screamed, 'Buffalo!', for everyone in the world, the whole world watching this, this is the blessing that, folks, God has given us. thank you very much.“ Wanyá then called Jenny his “another master's sister.”
Boyz II Men concluded their Masked Singer career as Buffalos by singing a feel-good rendition of their classic hit “Motownphilly.” Nick, Robin, Jenny, Ken and Rita joined them on stage, singing and dancing, along with Mario. Boyz II Men fans knew they were the Buffalos from the first notes they sang, so it was exciting to finally see their faces and hear their voices unmasked.
