The upcoming season on Paramount+ is a celebration of a crew of misfits who are dangerously close to leaving Below Decks and taking on strange new roles within Starfleet.
What does the new trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 mean?
The show's final season shakes things up (somewhat)
This trailer reveals much of what is driving the narrative around the core. Star Trek: Lower Decks there will be characters. Following their lives after promotion, the show will deviate slightly from the original conceptshaking things up by giving its characters more responsibility and a little more respect as they approach the series finale. It's kind of like the upcoming final season. Big mouthwhich will show the beginning of the characters' transition from middle school to high school before airing.
However, at the same time, this trailer promises that the series won't be completely different just because its main characters move forward in their lives. Actually, this seems to be the whole point of the trailer. The characters will still be outsiders who make serious mistakes and don't know exactly what they're doing. If anything, their new positions will likely demonstrate their incompetence even more clearly.
