In season five of STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, the crew of the USS Cerritos is tasked with closing “space potholes” – subspace rifts that cause chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. The duties of the bird would be easy for the junior officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendy and Rutherford … if they did not also have to deal with an Orion war, angry Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and the scariest of all: their Own career aspirations. The upcoming season on Paramount+ is a celebration of this underdog crew that is dangerously close to being promoted from the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles.
What the new trailer means for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5
The show’s latest season is shaking things up (somewhat)
The trailer reveals a considerable amount about what the main driving force of the story revolves around the heart Star Trek: Lower Decks Letters will be. By following their lives after their promotions, The show will move on a bit of its original premiseShaking things up by giving his characters more responsibility and a little more respect as they approach the series finale. This is somewhat similar to the upcoming final season of Big mouthwhich will explore the beginning of the characters’ transition from middle school to high school before they go off the air.
However, at the same time, this trailer promises that The show won’t be completely different just because the core characters are moving on in their lives. In fact, that seems to be the entire thesis of the trailer. The characters will still be underdogs who make big mistakes and don’t know exactly what they’re doing. If anything, their new positions will likely throw their incompetence into even sharper relief.
