The long-awaited return of American Horror Story’s Coven witches poses a big challenge for the show after the apocalypse

The witches of American horror storythird season, subtitled Conventicle, have appeared several times on the show since their initial appearance. Queenie returned for the fifth season of the series for one episode, Myrtle returned for one episode of the series’ spinoff American horror storiesand most of the witches returned for the show’s eighth season. The popular characters show no sign of ending their appearances, as Ryan Murphy has announced that the witches will return to the show at a later date. As for what roles they will play, that remains to be seen.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse offered a different storyline for the witches compared to the first season, which was great to see. Apocalypse saw witches fight the Antichrist to save the world from an apocalypse. All of the witches except Fiona Goode, the soulless Jessica Lange, were able to reappear in the season. But despite its popularity, the show I need a new story and a viable reason to make sense of the witches’ return. It wouldn’t do them justice if they showed up just to keep a tradition alive.

American Horror Story: The Apocalypse gave the witches a satisfying ending

All the witches are where they need to be

American Horror Story: Apocalypse gave the witches the ending they deserved and didn’t get Conventicle. Many characters were killed off at the end of season three, such as Madison, Nan, Myrtle, and Misty. These characters got a second chance in Apocalypsewith Misty getting another chance at life, Madison was brought back to be the hero, and Myrtle returned to help her sisters. Even Nan reappeared, showing that she is happy in the afterlife. All the unfair endings of Conventicle have been reversedand the characters finally got what they deserved.

Mallory will take over when the time comes.

Apocalypse it also continued the clan’s history and witches’ mythology. One of the ways they did this was by introducing Mallory, the next supreme of the coven. Even though Cordelia is alive and well and running the clan, her time is running out, which means Mallory will take control when the time comes. In a way, this is a good sign for your future as it means the coven will be kept in good hands. The downside to this, however, is that it means that when the witches return, the audience already knows who the next Supreme is, taking away the mystery.

If the Coven witches return on AHS, they need a new story

They can’t just retell the same stories that have already been told

The witches walk in line in American Horror Story Coven

The end of Apocalypse saw a new Antichrist born and recruited by the church of Satan. This means that witches will be needed once again to defeat him and save the world from another apocalypse. Although there is already a story prepared for their return, the witches have already fought against the Antichrist and won. If they did it again, such a story would become repetitive and predictable, and no one would watch the show. That’s it imperative for witches to face a new challenge rather than something that has been seen on the show before.

Ignoring the end of American Horror Story: Apocalypse It could be a challenge for the show’s creative team as it is a canonical event that happened on the show. But it’s a necessity that the show stays new and fresh. The charm of American horror story is that each season tells a different story. That’s why the witches would need to face a new challenge, as it wouldn’t make sense for the characters in the series to retell them the same story they told in season 8.
