The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of WisdomHebra Mountain is an unforgiving and harsh landscape, but the ice spikes accessory can make traversal of its icy peaks just a little easier. The ice spikes reduce how much you slip on icy surfaces. With these handy shoes you can easily explore and conquer the last area in the game.
When you reach Hebra Mountain, you will have collected a bunch of useful accessories scattered around oh So there are not many more for you to choose. Rather than being rewarded after completing a side quest like so many other accessories, The Ice Spikes are hidden in one of Hebra Mountain’s mini dungeons. To get them, you first need to reach the cave and then clear it, defeat the enemies between you and your prize.
Where to find the Ice Spikes in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
You will need to use your traversal echoes to reach the entrance of the cave
The cave you will need to enter is at the base of the snowiest part of Hebra Mountain, west of the waterfall. There are several ways to get there, but since Hebra Mountain is covered in thick fog, you cannot drop down on it from above. This means you will have to climb your way up, or in this case, across.
Scale Hebra Mountain from the east side, and make your way to the waterfall from Conde’s House. On your way, stop further east to defeat and learn the Echo of an Ice Wizzrobe, which is one of the most useful combat-focused Echoes you can find. Once you reach the top of the waterfall, use a flying part to zoom to the small ledge in front of the cave entrance.

If you prefer to approach from the south and west, you need to use the Platboom Echo. At this point in your playthrough, you should be able to summon at least three, and you’ll need all three to make it to the cave. Approach the cave entrance from below, and use as many platformbooms as you can to climb up.
Put one down, allow it to rise, and add another overlapping halfway with the one you are currently standing on. Keep doing this until you reach the top of the cave. Having the Frog Ring will make this easier, as you can jump right onto the platform without needing to boost yourself with another Echo.
After about three or so platform lifts, you should make it up to the cliff ledge. Before entering the cave, use an Ignizol or other fire-creating echo to melt the ice crystal to the left to grab one of the game’s many Mite Crystals. After you’ve done that, you’re ready to go into the cave to get the ice spikes.
Clearing the coffee
Once you enter the cave, you’ll be faced with a small room full of Tektite Lv2s, which should be easy enough to beat. You can use your swordfighter form to take care of them quickly Or use Tri’s Bind ability to allow one of your Boarblin or Darknut Echoes to take care of them for you. Either way, clear them out, and quickly move on to the main room of the cave.
The door to the second room will close behind you when you enter and will only open again once all the enemies in the room have been defeated. You’ll find some more Tektite Lv2s and some Ice Octos inside. You can use a swarm of Keese to soften up the tactics and then a Fire Octo or two to take on their icy counterparts.
The Ice Octos are vulnerable to fire, so setting them up and watching them work should be easy.
Once you defeat all the monsters in the room, collect any rupees or drops they may leave behind. Head up to the top center of the room, where the chest will spawn. Inside, you’ll find the Ice Spikes, which are “Shoes with spikes that stick in the ice, wearing them helps prevent slipping.“
Why the ice spikes are worth getting
Ice is annoying and dangerous
The ice spikes are lifesavers for those struggling with the icy peaks of Hebra Mountain. Nothing is more annoying than sliding right into the frigid waters of a cave dungeon or into the path of an oncoming projectile, and the ice spikes prevent that by giving you a little extra grip in those precarious situations. While the description reads that they “help prevent slipping,” it seems that these nifty shoes eliminate slipping entirely, As can be seen in Watermaroons YouTube video
If you’re sick and tired of sliding around the slopes of Hebra Mountain, Taking a few minutes out of your playthrough to catch the ice spikes is totally worth it. The hardest part is reaching the cave, but defeating the enemies inside should be relatively simple once you do. It’s nice to see that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Provides ways to counteract some of its most annoying mechanics, allowing players to truly enjoy this awesome entry in the franchise.
