Warning: Spoilers for Pokémon Horizons, episode #73After Pokémon Horizons Having spent a long period of time in Paldea, training and repairing their aircraft, the Rising Volt Tacklers wasted no time setting out after the last of the Six Heroes, Kleavor, who appeared in the rural land of Kitakami. Liko, Dot and Roy managed to make this powerful Pokémon their ally, but only after an extensive battle that proved how powerful it really is.
Kleavor is a unique species of Pokémon, a special evolution of Scyther that is believed to be practically extinct in the modern era of Pokemon. They made their debut in Pokémon Legends: Arceus as one of the species that formerly lived in the Sinnoh region, but no longer lives. Kleavor is an interesting choice for one of Ancient Adventurer Lucius’s Six Heroes, Pokémon mentioned in literal legends that are said to have worked alongside this great trainer of the past.
Lucius’ Kleavor Just Joined Roy and Liko’s Team
Liko and Roy now have four of the six heroes
In the episode, Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede worked with Perrin, a photographer in Kitakami who recently saw Kleavor, to track down his location in Kitakami land. Following him to a cave behind a waterfall, the group was split up, with Liko, Roy and Dot following Kleavor to an open bamboo field, where he demanded a confrontation. Even with all three facing him, Kleavor was still able to easily repel their attacks by listening to the approaching sounds and reacting accordingly.
By using the sound of cutting bamboo against it, Liko’s crew was able to knock Kleavor down and land some solid blows, finally breaking the Pokémon’s exceptional strength and endurance. It was revealed that Kleavor had been honing his strength since being separated from Lucius, and that this test was to see if Liko’s goal was enough to justify the use of his power. Kleavor eventually agreed to go with them, and joined his former teammates in an Ancient Poké Ball.
Kleavor is one of the strongest Pokémon in the series
In terms of brute strength, few can match Kleavor
Although statistically Kleavor is strong in the games, it is certainly surpassed by many other Pokémon. However, Lucius’ Pokémon have been shown to be far more powerful than a typical member of their species, with two of them (Lapras and Arboliva) being absolutely gigantic compared to their standard height. This makes them more similar to, say, Noble Pokémon from Legends: Arceus. Kleavor in particular has spent at least a hundred years training to become stronger, and for a species like Kleavor, it is said that they become more powerful the longer they live and the more fights they survive.
With the possible exception of Galarian Moltres, Kleavor is the strongest and strongest Pokémon Liko and Roy have ever obtained. Kleavor will be an incredibly powerful ally to Liko and Roy, although it may still be some time before he is willing to obey them in battle. Certainly, Kleavor’s strength will be needed to defeat Black Rayquaza, one of the last members of the Pokémon Horizons‘ Six heroes that need to be collected.
