Throughout its execution, All American said goodbye to some wonderful characters, including Coach Montes (Kamar de los Reyes). The series premiered on October 10, 2018 and has been an integral part of The CW's lineup ever since, with All American Season 7 scheduled for release in early 2025. Over its six seasons, the show saw many casting changes, with the most significant coming when Spencer James actor Daniel Ezra left All American.

Another important character who had an early exit from the program was Coach Montes, who first appeared in All American 4th season as head football coach at Coastal California College. Perhaps the biggest impact Coach Montes left on the series as a whole was his relationship with Asher Adams (Cody Christian), as he helped guide Adams throughout their time together on screen. Unfortunately, coach Montes' time All American was interrupted by a personal tragedy that happened outside of the series.

Thank you for sharing it so generously with us and the rest of the world. He truly was a gift. One we will cherish forever.

All American gave Coach Montes the best send-off

Montes accepted an NFL coaching job in Season 6

Because Kamar de los Reyes was still filming All American when he passed away, the series had to change course and decided to give Coach Montes a beautiful farewell befitting the character. Often times, when a TV actor dies, their series ends up killing off the character as well, quickly tying up any loose ends in the process. However, All American decided to take a different approach, and it's much better this way.

In All American Season 6, Episode 10, “Mass Appeal”, it is revealed that Coach Montes left his head coaching position at Coastal California College and accepted a position with the NFL. Of course, the plot point happened so suddenly, and the biggest closure the character got was a brief phone call with Asher Adams where he told him the good news about his NFL job. In episode 13, “Victory Lap”, it was confirmed that Coach Montes helped lead his NFL team to victory in the Super Bowl, and All American finally concluded his story with a sincere tribute.
