Warning: Contains spoilers for Blood Hunters #3!A former supporting character in Spider-Man Studies, Halloween is quickly becoming a Marvel powerhouse – one that could rival the likes of Thor himself. Empowered by Limbo’s dark magic and a drive to prove herself, Hallows’ Eve has the spark to become one of Marvel’s most powerful beings. All that stands between you and godly power is the right Halloween mask.
Blood Hunters #3 – by Erica Schultz and Robert Gill – Subtly reveals the growing potential of Eve. In order to save Dagger, Eve reveals her witch mask – A tool that immediately grants her the ability to use magic, despite her lack of mystical knowledge.
Hallows’ Eve gains new powers when she wears different masks, and the witch’s mask turns Eve into a powerful spellcaster. While Hallows’ Eve is a relatively new character (at least in her costumed guise), her rapidly expanding abilities make her a truly powerful hero. While she had to choose between one at a time, Hallows’ Eve now had powers ranging from god-level strength to literal magic. Eve’s many masks include:
- The ghost mask – Grants both intangibility and invisibility
- The Hulk mask – Grants Hulk-level physical strength
- The Captain America Mask – Grants super strength and Captain America’s shield
- The Spider-Man mask – Provides all of Spider-Man’s powers and web-slinging abilities

Blood Hunters #3 – Erica Schultz, Robert Gill, Rain Beredo and Joe Caramagna
A love interest of Spider-Man’s clone Ben Reilly, Janine’s story originally ended with her turning herself into the police to make up for past crimes. Janine did not appear in the comics for the next 25 years, but was eventually brought back by the Next Corporation to entice Ben Reilly to act as the company’s corporate-endorsed Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Ben Reilly met with tragedy, and turned into the villain Chasm. Desperate to find the power needed to regain his humanity, the duo traveled to Limbo to make a deal with the Goblin Queen, Madeline Prior.
Madeline, seeing a reflection of her early self in Janine and sensing Janine’s frustration at being unable to help Ben, offers her the same dark magical catalyst that originally gave the Jean Gray clone her mystical powers. Transformed to use Limbo’s complex magic, the newly reborn Hallows’ Eve was gifted a bottomless bag of masks that gave her powers associated with the mask’s visages. in Blood Hunters #3, It is revealed that a mask can give Janine not only physical powers, but also the knowledge of the subject of the mask, including the ability to wield ancient magic.
Hallows’ Eve is as powerful as Limbo’s infinite magic
Janine Godbe first debuted in Spider-Man: The Lost Years #1
Hallows’ Eve using the witch mask to teleport the Blood Hunters to safety shows a new level to her power, suggesting there is no true limit to her abilities. While becoming powerful or developing spider powers is one thing, magic is almost limitless in Marvel lore, depending on the user’s personal knowledge and command of the mystical arts. If Hallows’ Eve can summon this deep knowledge of magic at will, there is little she cannot accomplish. Hypothetically, Janine could pull off a mask of Thor, or Chthon, or even Eternity and instantly possess their full strength.
Like Hallows’ Eve, Janine is still fairly new to Marvel’s comics, only having made her rebranded debut in 2022. However, the current potential of her possibly infinite spring of transformative masks makes her a character fans should pay attention to. Marvel has made great strides to resurrect other previous D-listers like The Hood and 8-Ball, but Hallows’ Eve is already above them all. Although only time will tell what the future holds for this magical anti-hero, Halloweens mystical potential is far beyond her current fame, making her abilities more in line with Thor Like a rebanded ’90s character.
