With installments as is, The Fall of the Dragon Queen feels more like unfinished business from the previous episode. it didn’t quite fit. Sure, it made episode 9 a brilliant cliffhanger, but Gracie’s apparent murder would have been just as effective as a stopper – if not even better.

Bad Monkey Season 1 was incredibly ambiguous as to whether Gracie’s powers were genuine or if she was simply scamming people out of their hard-earned money. However, her ghostly farewell tour provided the most compelling evidence yet that The Dragon Queen wasn’t fake. While two of her three visits can be considered hallucinations caused by her dying brain, Gracie’s conversation with Egg is a little different.

After the injury, Egg and Gracie did not communicate, so she did not know that Egg was injured. If this conversation had been entirely in Gracie’s mind, then Egg would not have had this wound at all, since she would have had no reason to visualize such a specific deviation from her last memory of him. Suddenly it makes it hard to deny that Bad Monkey plunges into the world of the supernatural.
