Dexter: Original Sin episode 4 reveals Dexter's first big rookie mistake resulting in Mad-Dog making an escape during Dexter's pre-kill ritual.
Dexter's third target, a former assassin named Mad Dog, is played by legendary actor Joe Pantoliano from Memory and The Sopranos acclaim. The cast of Dexter: Original Sin is led by Patrick Gibson as the new titular protagonist alongside newcomers Molly Brown, Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Mad-Dog is hit by a car in Dexter: Original Sin, season 1, episode 4, finale
He escapes being murdered by Dexter only to be run over by oncoming traffic.
In Dexter: Original Sin episode 4, Mad Dog is hit by a car while escaping from Dexter in a shocking ending. He wakes up during Dexter's pre-death ritual, while Dexter takes up residence in a room in Mad Dog's house, where he acts out all his classical guitar playing. Dexter initially knocked out Mad Dog by hitting him in the head with a guitar. In another funny moment, Dexter is about to hit him with another guitar when Mad Dog pleads: "Not Clapton!", a reference to guitar legend Eric Clapton.
As Dexter is not at the stage where he can start sedating his targets with a tranquilizer via syringe, he has been using his brute strength to incapacitate them, which Mad Dog proves does not always have lasting effects. Dexter faces his first major dilemma with his new murder spree after Mad Dog escapes and is hit by a car. He may even have to attend the scene to investigate Mad Dog's body if the driver of the car that hit you sped off in a hit-and-run accident, which would make it a crime.
Mad-Dog is probably dead, but Dexter still needs to make sure he's not associated with his death
Mad-Dog saw Dexter's face and could expose Dexter if he were miraculously alive
Mad-Dog was tied up and in his underwear when he apparently died, which will automatically raise suspicions in the Miami Metro Police Department. Also, his house is full of plastic wrap of Dexter getting ready to kill him, which Dexter probably ran back and removed all evidence of his presence there. If Mad-Dog is as dead as he appears at the end of Dexter: Original Sin episode 4, Dexter will need to cover his tracks completely to avoid putting a target on his own back. If he's not dead, Dexter needs to make sure Mad-Dog can't identify him in episode 5, aptly titled "F Is For F**k-Up."
Dexter: Original Sin explores the origins of Dexter Morgan as he transitions from student to serial killer in 1991 Miami. Guided by his father, Dexter channels his dark desires through a moral code as he begins a forensic internship at the Miami Metropolitan Police Department.
