The design of the Nintendo Switch 2 has not yet been officially revealed, but this video confirms what it will look like

While Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed anything, a YouTube channel called SwitchUp has shared a detailed 3D-printed model of the Nintendo Switch 2which they claim is from a Chinese case manufacturer. This is not the first time a 3D model has been shared, but this one stands out for its high level of detail and the source's apparent access to the design plans.

As shared by wccftechthe video on To replace The YouTube channel compares the 3D model to the current Nintendo Switch OLED model, showing significant differences in size, screen dimensions, and controller design. Alleged new Switch 2 model is noticeably larger than the OLED modelfeaturing a larger screen with just slightly larger bezels.

The screen protector that comes with the Switch 2 is also much larger than the OLED. While the layout of the ports and buttons is largely the same, one key difference is that the USB-C port has been moved to the top of the console instead of the bottom. The Joy-Con controllers are also larger and may have a new button on the right controller, potentially serving as a capture button.

Is this really what Switch 2 will be like?

It looks like it was done professionally

Nintendo is taking its time revealing the Switch 2, but the reliability of this leak is based on the 3D model sourced from a case manufacturer who has access to the project designs. This means the design could be more credible than typical rumors. The fact that there is a detailed 3D printed model and a suitable screen protector adds to its credibility. While it hasn't been officially confirmed, the detailed information and inside source make this leak seem more believable than previous rumors.

As noted in a YouTube comment from EpicRegalia, SwitchUp doesn't talk about Switch 2 rumorsTherefore, the channel's choice to dedicate a video to this 3D model helps assert its position as “the most concrete evidence” yet. SwitchUp is generally considered a reliable main channel that does not focus on speculation, making it unlikely that the video is intentionally misleading. There are changes to the screen size, Joy-Con controller design, and the position of the USB-C port that it suggests a more comfortable and possibly more powerful device, meaning it's a big upgrade over current Switch models.

Our opinion: a good design for the Switch 2?

This seems like an improvement

I think the rumored new design of the Nintendo Switch 2 has a lot of potential. The bigger screen and better ergonomics are great upgradesespecially since the original Switch has a small screen and cramped Joy-Cons. The video comparing the size of the console to the Steam Deck was great because the Switch needed a bigger screen. I like using the Switch on my TV because of the screen size, which is definitely not one of the system's strong points.

The look looks good for this mock-up, but we also need to consider things like weight and build quality, which we don't know much about yet, and which really make a difference in the end. However, Nintendo appears to have enlarged the screen without making the console too bulky. Moving the USB-C port to the top would make charging much easier while gaming. I'm always afraid of bending the cable wrong with the regular switch, so this is a huge bonus for the Nintendo Switch 2. Overall, this could be a great design for the system if it comes to it.
