The return of the shadow cabinet marks a major shift
The synopsis for Milestone Universe: The Shadow Cabinet #1 (2024) mentions an incursion by Brainiac, likely tied into the recent developments of Council of Light and Brainiac Queen in the DC universe. Already, DC has teased an all-Milestone team that would come together and join forces, as seen in Titans: Beast World – Waller Rising #1. Given the other ongoing conflicts in the Milestone Universe, and the concept of a “world-spanning story” as established by milestone returns, The team may be closer to fruition and to its final merger.
The Milestone Universe, also known as the Dakota-verse, has undergone many changes in recent years (and the previous couple of decades). Heroes like Static are included in DC’s New 52 era, but they were left to the wayside for years after until Milestone’s resurgence in 2021. Nevertheless, it operated independently outside of DC’s primary comic universe, as it originally did when it was primarily run by Milestone Comics before its Acquisition by DC. After Brainiac’s intrusion into the Dakota-verse, a paradigm shift may be ahead now that the Shadow Council is back in the game recruiting racket, especially with Dr. Alva’s disappearance.
The future of the Decaverse will soon be revealed After Brainiac’s intrusion into the Dakota-verse, a paradigm shift may be ahead now that the Shadow Council is back in the game recruiting racket, especially with Dr. Alva’s disappearance.
Most exciting about the Decaverse’s next stage of storytelling is the return of Joseph P. Illidge. Illidge was an editor with Milestone, which was his first foray into editorial work. This work eventually led to his editorial work with DC. He has since won many awards for his achievements in the industry, which makes his return to the Milestone Universe particularly notable. With the universe in good hands and every hero with their hands full, the next era of the Decaverse could be the most exciting yet as the universe comes together in Milestone Universe: The Shadow Cabinet #1 This fall.
Milestone Universe: The Shadow Cabinet #1 will be released on November 20, from DC Comics.
