The character of the prophecy is truly up to the mark

Although Dune: Prophecy is set 10,000 years before the life of Paul Atreides, one of his ancestors still plays a prominent role in the story. In Dune: ProphecyChris Mason plays Keiran Atreides, master swordsman of House Corrino. In addition to Mason, the cast of Dune: Prophecy includes Emily Watson, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Jodhi May and Sarah-Sofi Boussnina. The first two episodes of Dune: Prophecy explores Keiran Atreides’ relationships with several characters, specifically members of House Corrino, played by Strong, May and Boussnina.

The story of Dune: Prophecy follows Valya Harkonnen, who leads the Bene Gesserit, as she plots to take control of the Empire. To do this, she recruits Princess Ynez Corrino, heir to the Empire, into her sisterhood. However, Keiran Atreides’ role in House Corrino, specifically his relationship with Ynez, could disrupt Valya’s plans. Furthermore, Dune: Prophecy episode 2 also reveals that Keiran is a spy for the rebellion. Therefore, Keiran Atreides is one of the most interesting characters in Dune: Prophecy.

Keiran Atreides is part of the rebellion in Dune: Prophecy

Keiran Atreides is a spy for the rebellion in Dune: Prophecy

Although Keiran Atreides was largely a supporting character in the series’ first episode, Dune: Prophecy episode 2 revealed that he is actually a member of the rebellion. Therefore, Keiran is working as a spy in the palace of House Corrino. In Dune: Prophecy, the rebels are working against House Corrino and other Great Houses because the wealth of the spice flow only benefits them. Episode 2 of Dune: Prophecy it also reveals that it was the rebels who were responsible for the attack on Arrakis, which resulted in Desmond Hart being swallowed by a sandworm.

Many of the rebellion’s actions are being orchestrated by the Bene Gesserit.

However, Keiran’s loyalty to the rebellion is questioned by another member of the rebellionthe division’s bartender, Sister Mikaela, who saw him with Princess Ynez. There are several layers to Dune: Prophecy story, and it is also revealed that Sister Mikaela is working with Valya Harkonnen. Therefore, many of the actions of the rebellion are being orchestrated by the Bene Gesserit. Most members of the rebellion probably don’t know this, and if they ever found out, it would likely change how much they believe in the rebellion’s cause.

Why Keiran Atreides was scanning Corrino Palace

The rebellion is working against House Corrino in Dune: Prophecy

While Keiran Atreides’ loyalty to the rebellion was being questioned in Dune: Prophecy episode 2, he stole the blueprints from House Corrino’s palace and gave them to the rebels. It’s not revealed exactly why the rebellion wants the palace blueprints, but they are working against House Corrino, so it’s possible they are planning an attack. The Emperor and Empress Corrino have already shown themselves vulnerable in Dune: Prophecy, therefore, an attack could weaken them significantly. Perhaps the result of the attack would make Keiran’s family, the Atreides, more powerful.

Although the plan for the rebellion in Dune: Prophecy hasn’t been fully revealed yet, it definitely won’t be good for House Corrino. The Rebels have already sabotaged House Corrino on Arrakis and could further impact its role within the Empire. However, as the plot of Dune: Prophecy unfolds, it is important to remember that Valya Harkonnen has connections within the rebellion. Therefore, the rebellion could simply be serving the will of the Bene Gesserit.

Does Keiran Atreides really love Princess Ynez?

Any attack against House Corrino could affect Keiran Atriedes, however. Although he disagrees with how Emperor Corrino is ruling the Empire, Keiran formed a connection with the Emperor’s daughter, Ynez. Many of Keiran’s motivations in Dune: Prophecy are still unclear, so it’s unknown how much he truly cares about Ynez. It’s possible that he’s just using her and that his complete loyalty remains with the rebellion, but there are also hints that he has genuine feelings for her.

In the first episode of Dune: ProphecyPrincess Ynez was preparing to leave the planet Salusa Secundas to train with the Bene Gesserit. However, Pruwet Richese’s murder delayed her exit, which made her more reserved with Keiran in episode 2 of the series. Their interactions in episode 2 of Dune: Prophecy suggest that Keiran actually has real feelings for Princess Ynezwhich could make things difficult for him when the rebellion decides to attack his family. Future episodes of Dune: Prophecy will likely reveal where Keiran Atreides’ true loyalties lie.
